20 Most Recent 2009 Dodge Journey Questions & Answers

This is a notorious problem with '08/'09 Journeys. Unfortunately Dodge, nor the dealers have identified the root cause. Dealers will start by replacing the WIN (wireless ignition) module, then the starter, followed by relays, the ELV module, and finally send you on your way. Soon you will stranded with a NO START / CRANK INOP problem again. There is no real solution identified... ...and that's a travesty. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I am not familiar with this model but this sounds like an indication of possible serious engine wear. When you say loud are we talking about knocking noises? When the big ends and mains wear the oil has a bigger gap to go through and so the pressure goes down. Lower pressure means lower oil use and even more wear. Fit an oil pressure gauge to check for problems.

Micah: Under the hood on the drivers side above the inner wheel well there is a long Black fuse box. Squeeze the tabs and remove the lid. On the underside of the cover is a diagram showing which one is which. Standing in front of the car on the left side closest to you is a row of square fuses. It will be a 40amp and the second from the farthest away from you.
Hope this is helpful to you.

What colour was the light when it came on? When the system activates a light comes on to tell you it is working. If the light is yellow or green don't worry about it. That's the system working correctly. If it is Red, get it looked at by a good mechanic. **It uses the brakes to work properly**.
Traction Control is a system that is awake all of the time. It constantly monitors whether your getting unwanted wheel spin. If it detects a wheel slipping it uses the brakes to slow that wheel to stop it spinning too much.
