Sounds like it may be a flakey shift position indicator switch. The switch tells the ignition when the transmission is in park. Vehicle is designed to not start unless transmission is in park so if the switch is malfunctioning the ignition may not get the signal that it is in park.

The two problems you stated could be unrelated, but one never knows on these new cars today. Perhaps one or more wire connections have been damaged or made loose when the brake job ETC was done. You or whom ever did the work has to go back over every thing and make sure no wire's were damaged or disturbed.

I also have a 2009 Journey with the 6 disc changer. There is a 'LOAD' button to the right of the disc opening. Press 'LOAD' and wait for it to display "insert disc". The 'EJECT' button is on the left side (above the power knob) and the 'LOAD' button is on the right (above the volume knob). Hope this is helpful.
