2009 Dodge Nitro. Why does it have two CDI units?

3.7L>? or 4.0L, capacitive discharge Ignition = CDI these to use 6 COP coils new , USA spec car. no photos of yours posted, maybe it was ADDED ON later? built my first one CDI in 1970 , well in the uSA we have a thing called EPA that dictates smog rates. to burn more fuel takes, lots more spark energy, and CDI does that in huge huge way, and 2 of them works better than 1. just like 2 batteries on a diesel car do better. for the same reasons. "more power"? The reason engines use v6, ,six cop coils is same EPA mandates the reason engines had a 2 coil packs x3 is for same reason and to use not 6 coils but use only 3, and saves money (mfg. cash) one coil engine' s were banned long ago and its bad actor the Distributor. you can also buy CDI from famous maker.MSD what is on any engine, 13 years old is not known by me until seen.. other reasons are using, boosted (say turbo) inducted engines or Nitros Oxide fuel (racing) or super High compression ratio's in any way.. CDI produces the most powerful spark of all . even 50,000 volts. GM calls it high energy ignition but other makers use other names. I had to guess what you meant by CDI ( spark)

I have a 2009 Dodge Nitro 4X4. How do I remove the oil filter

My dodge Nitro is 08 4x4 ... not sure if it is the same, but i changed my oil filter in less than 10mins. it is beside the water tank, so open the bonnet, use a wrench or an L key, depending on your size, i assume must be as easy as mine, you will see a round and Black metal thing with a lid, that is the oil filter holder, with your key opened form the top, lift it, change it, put seals back, close it and done... some people buys the whole molar thing, i did it once but then i noticed that with just the filter will do it, no need to a holder...

Some people seal the lid, but i use the seal that comes with, and presto ! the job is done...

Read also this, might help ;) and good luck:

After changing my oil a few time`s I got tired of busting my knuckles and it taking for ever.I checked out the plastic drain underneath the oil filter and realized if it was not there, there would be a clear shot to the filter.Oil spills out the filter any way you try to get the filter out so the drain is useless any way. There are 2 bolts holding the drain on.

Figure 1,when putting this bolt back in put some rtv sealant on it.

Figure 2,this bolt only has to be loosened, slide it up and it pops through the hole above.....hmmmmmmmmm starting to look like it is made to come off quick....wonder why[img

Figure 3,clear shot to your filter

Figure 4,wrench has easy access

Figure 5,Slide filter out.Its just barely slides out so take your time.Clean up spilt oil.....which you would have done any way except this took ten minutes instead of an hour and lot of cussing. Now reverse.

The overheating light comes on and the gauge goes way over into the red . and then about half an hour later everything goes back to normal.

Better fix that before your engine seizes. Check water pump, radiator, thermostat for proper coolant flow.

Where the thermostat is located on 2009 Dodge Nitro 4.0 lt

If you follow the top hose from the radiator to the top of the engine block there should be a housing at the end of it. The thermostat should be under theat housing. By housing I mean a hard plastic or metal part that bolts the hose to the block
