My dodge Nitro is 08 4x4 ... not sure if it is the same, but i changed my oil filter in less than 10mins. it is beside the water tank, so open the bonnet, use a wrench or an L key, depending on your size, i assume must be as easy as mine, you will see a round and Black metal thing with a lid, that is the oil filter holder, with your key opened form the top, lift it, change it, put seals back, close it and done... some people buys the whole molar thing, i did it once but then i noticed that with just the filter will do it, no need to a holder...
Some people seal the lid, but i use the seal that comes with, and presto ! the job is done...
Read also this, might help ;) and good luck:
After changing my oil a few time`s I got tired of busting my knuckles and it taking for ever.I checked out the plastic drain underneath the oil filter and realized if it was not there, there would be a clear shot to the filter.Oil spills out the filter any way you try to get the filter out so the drain is useless any way. There are 2 bolts holding the drain on.
Figure 1,when putting this bolt back in put some rtv sealant on it.
Figure 2,this bolt only has to be loosened, slide it up and it pops through the hole above.....hmmmmmmmmm starting to look like it is made to come off quick....wonder why[img
Figure 3,clear shot to your filter
Figure 4,wrench has easy access

Figure 5,Slide filter out.Its just barely slides out so take your time.Clean up spilt oil.....which you would have done any way except this took ten minutes instead of an hour and lot of cussing. Now reverse.
