There is an override switch just to the left of the change compartment near the drivers left hand. It is easy to activate the override accidentally. Just release the override.

I just changed the air filter, but it was a pain. The air filter is inside the large, black box near the fuses. There are three obvious latches, but the back corner is the problem. There is a hooking mechanism that is tricky. You have to push the top of the air filter box to the back and down. Replace the filter making sure you put it in the same way as the old one came out. Now the hard part is to relatch the back hook. Push back and down and hope you can get it hooked. Reattach the other three latches and you are done.

You should have gotten a manual key also for situations like this.
