Reset Volvo service reminder indicator or maintenance messages after changing oil, filters and inspecting brakes and suspension.
Press and hold trip reset button,
turn on the ignition,
wait for the yellow warning light to start blinking,
release the button and wait for confirmations sound,
turn off the ignition,
turn the ignition back on to check if the service message is gone.
This procedure will reset messages:

This also works in any other modern Volvo car, like: C30, C70, S40, S60, S80, V40, V50, V60, V70, XC60, XC70, XC90.

Volvo with some engines had different location of the power steering fluid reservoir. Find out where is the cap in your C30, S40, V50 or C70 on a example of Volvo C30 with 2.0D PSA engine.
Check if your Volvo C30/S40/V50/C70 has DPF (diesel particulate filter) / FAP (filtre ? particules) installed. Volvo is using this filter in cars with diesel engines like 1.6D, 2.0D, D2, D3, D4, D5 to reduce emission and meet Euro emission standards.

Exactly the same problem on a Volvo v50 54reg t5 auto! I'm sorry that this is a useless answer because we've had this car since April 2013 and got it from a dealer in or near whittlesey and still found no solution. Its coming up to an MOT soon so fingers crossed. I think its possible that we have the same car. Ours is grey and was registered in December 2004. Reply if you find an answer. Our dealer in whittlesey and he said nothing of the fault so it would be interesting if he lied. All the best.
