im not in the knowledge that it has one , most circuits for headlights are operated by the headlight knob switch , Now brakes on trucks they use a relay because you may tow a trailer and you don't want to have the trailer short cause your brake lights to go out

Headlight relay is stuck in closed position.

check for a faulty ignition switch there is a recall on all GM switches back to vehicles made 12 years ago for just this complaint there are recorded deaths from the switch just switching off especially if there are objects hanging from the key

It is the link (thick wire, usually red) that connect to the starter. A fusible link is just a heavy length of wire that acts like a fuse.

Check the crankshaft sensor.

moved you from computers to chebby engine shut down? use the OBD2 scan tool find all DTC errors and report them or ask you mechanic ASE to do that, he sure does know !!! no year told. nor if radio goes dead too at shut down. or head lamps too. all things that die MATTER huge.

Check the wiring on the temp sensor for loose connections.

front rotors are warped turning them will make them worse because the van is so heavy i would buy good ones from napa

I would replace the so called spider fuel injection assembly, it is known cause of this complaint. See photo

have you actually put your hand on either of the rad hoses ,A model year would also help .Does the temp gauge go down when you have the a/c on I only ask as its a part of your question

Sounds like a switch or connection problem. Check the connections and look for corrosion.

When you said that you checked the brake switch, did you check it live? Meaning verified live power to the switch, press switch, and then power came out the other terminal?

If so, also verify zero power on brake press, at the offending brake light bulb terminal. You must verify the test light each time you move it...leave running lights on...

After verifying that there is no power coming, after the brake is pressed, note the wire color and find it where it comes to the steering column and test there... This would eliminate wires and connections between front and the rear of the vehicle, unlikely, but needs to be tested.

After verifying no power at that terminal, then yes the t/s switch is certainly suspece. This may be the time to get a mechanic to verify and replace the switch, there are locks, tilt mechanisms, air bags, column bearings, etc involved. Failures risk loss of vehicle control (locking or binding for example.)..

Could be out of balance tire. Make sure your tie rods and ball joints are good.

Remove the serpentine belt by going clockwise with a 3/8 breaker bar on the belt tentioner UNDER the truck (I had to use my 1/2" breaker bar with a 3/8" adapter). Have someone remove the belt off the alternator as you remove tension under the truck (jack the truck up just a bit to fit) there is a square 3/8" for a socket ratchet to fit into on the tentioner underneath. Then remove the 2 - 13mm bolts on the alternator on top of the truck (under the hood). They are long bolts and rather tight, I loosened them with a breaker bar and then air ratcheted them out the rest of the way. Even with my cheap $20 air ratchet and $40 compressor, it does the job because there is not much room in there. Now pry the alternator loose with a BIG screwdriver, side by side until it's flopping around a bit. Then remove the 1/2" nut off the alternator wire and remove the wire. Now the fun part, getting it out of the engine compartment. It comes out BACK first, take the bolt to the wire out first and the entire black rear towards you (barely enough room). The pulley will be facing towards the engine and wiggle back and forth until it slides out. Good luck on the arm cuts! I didn't put my new one back in yet but I am sure it will be fun.
