Sounds like the gearshift interlock is not working. I assume you know you have to hold your foot on the brake with the ignition switched on. Check all the fuses. If they're ok you may need to take it to an auto electrician unless you can find the fault in the interlock system yourself. It may be that the switch may be faulty or out of adjustment.
