You need an ohm meter and check to see if ther is power at the horns and lights. There is no programming that turns off the horn on the steering column. But I have one of these trucks and had the same problem with the lights and horns but it didn't happen at the same time. My lightbulbs burnt out and the actual horns under the bumper did to. Hope this helps.

Acts like it is starving

It could be the fuel pump, not the fuel filter.

The fuel pump is usually located inside of the gas tank.

Hope this helps!

Cannot get the rotor off.

to get the rotor off you should even have to remove the 36mm bolt. the rotor should just come off after you remove the caliper. if its the entire spindle assmbly your taking off you will need a pickle fork to seperate it from the joints there are also 2 bolt with cotter pins on the back side.

I have a 2004 GMC

When the transmission is in "tow" mode, the converter is unlocked. That causes the engine to run at a higher RPM but also since it's actually slipping internally (by design), it builds heat. If your radiator is the least bit internally obstructed or if you don't have a large enough transmission cooler (mounted externally), or, a combination of both items, everything will get hotter than it should be. Heat is especially bad for your transmission. The fluid chemically breaks down resulting in clutch slippage and burning.
If you do a lot of hauling, I'd get the largest trans cooler available making sure it's attached to the return side of the one inside the radiator and also change the fluid to a good grade of synthetic (resists heat damage far better than conventional fluid). Even if you think it's clean, I'd also flush out the radiator just to make sure.

My hd automatic transmission howls

Sounds like the pump maybe going out i would have it checked out so if the pump is going out it can be fixed and you want loose bands and clutches after it does.

Can't fill gas except very

Usually a bad vent valve, unless your truck doesn't have one. If it does, the vent valve is near the tank attached to a hose from the tank or filler pipe. It has an electrical connector and another hose going to the canister. Sometimes it's mounted to the canister. The valve is usually default open and allows vapors to go from the tank to the canister. Take your off to see if it's open. If you need specific instructions, please reply with your model, year, and engine info. If not, replace it. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.
