Heater valve is stuck or needs replacement. I doubt if it is the knob. If you coolant hasn't been flushed out for a few years ..get it flushed and replace the valve. GM uses dexcool coolant that still to this day gums up when it get old and can mess up valves and gaskets.

Change your thermostat and see if that works.

First listen for the pump. If no sound, check fuse, connection and voltage at the pump. If you have voltage to the pump, and it doesn't work, have it replaced.

BEHIND STARTER MOTOR AND BELOW OIL FILTER HOUSING

I just got the perfect answer to this yesterday. It's a $5 fix! Check your brake lights. If any of them are out, it will make the cruise control not function. Turns out all 4 of the 3rd set of brake lights were out. We replaced the 4 of them and the cruise control immediately became functional again. I got this tip from a gentleman in the service department at a local Chevy dealer.

DO NOT use any sealing material.

1. Install the cylinder head gasket.
2. Install the cylinder head.
3. Install NEW cylinder head bolts.

Caution!Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices. Click to Enlarge

4. Install and tighten the cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown.

Tighten Tighten the bolts to 30 N•m (22 lb ft) plus an additional 155 degrees using the J 45059 . Click to Enlarge

5. Install the NEW front cylinder head bolts.

Tighten Tighten the bolts to 35 N•m (26 lb ft).

This is confusing, My battery is located next to the spare tire in the rear of the car. I have a 2008 HHR. My AC also quit working at the same time the temp sensor did.

They usually hammer the screwdriver into the lock and use the screwdriver to turn the lock in place of a key. Of course they forget about the antitheft system, but some just want to release the steering lock so they can get it onto a low loader and strip for parts. Take off all the plastic and replace the lock. It is a job better left to your local dealership because of removing the hardened steel pin some have and some has a special technique for sliding the cylinder out. Your vehicle does not have an orfice. It has an expansion valve.
