My cam shaft is running dry on exhaust port of cyl 1. can I fix it without removing the cyl head
You seem pretty capable if you were able to do all that but yet you don't know if you will have to remove the head to fix? Who cares, you can have that head off in no time if you have been able to complete your diagnosis correctly I'm assuming up to this point, so yes I would start with the head and go from there. You are not getting oil pressure to there for a reason. And 9 times out of ten when you have a ticking sound with no oil you are in need of at least head work, so new head gaskets, head rebuild at least, timing chain, oil pump , water pump do it all while there, hopefully that is the worst case scenario. But from what you have stayed about everything you have done so far, I think you are well aware of what is next.
Now, that said, find why you are not getting oil there, pressure test? What is your oil pressure? How's the pump? Is there a good upgrade available? Who knows, it could blow it open, I've done it many times. And maybe oil in there stops tick. But I doubt it sorry to say. Most engine components get a little feisty without that miracle viscous liquid we all here so much about. Thanks Obama!!! Just kidding.. But anyway if you can, check pressure, I don't think timing is an issue, unlikely cam issue, more likely a pressure/ flow / pump issue but sorry to say that the tick is the result of the problem and not the symptom so to say
