2003 HONDA ELEMENT DIES WHILE DRIVING

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. Maybe the thieves or the repair shop damaged/loosened something. I would start the car and start wiggling/moving wires and connections to try to narrow down where the problem is. Start at the alternator connections, both at the alternator and where the thick wire connects, probably at the power distribution box but it may go straight to the battery; don't recall on that car. Replaced ignition on honda element and now the anti theft wont let me start my car

you can't, this is manufacturer installed antitheft so you can't just replace an ignition on a stolen vehicle. When you take it to Honda they will run the VIN and if it is not stolen they will fix it for you.

2008 Element EX--The radio volume goes way up on its own and the radio shifts from FM1 to FM2 to AM on its own. The volume also increases on the CD. When I turn the volume back down, it goes right b

Check with your local Honda dealer for the latest service bulletins/news on this issue. They were replacing audio units under warranty a few years back. I don't currently work at a Honda store, so I don't have access to the latest info as of today. Also does it have steering wheel controls? They also have had issues in the past. Best bet...take it into Honda to have them check it.

I have a 2008 Honda Element. Today it was sitting idling and it started to make a strange screaching noise and then the engine started smoking. What could this be? I am a bit concerned about this!!

I suggest you check the drive belt as the smoke and the noise will be from something that has stopped tuning and the belt has be slipping . Check that all pulleys are free to move

Honda element check engine on but no code

what does no code mean? (no code see where and on WHAT) no year car posts are no good. 03- 11 are choices. USA or Canada???? any modern OBD2 tool works if car is newer than say 2004, use modern scan tool if car is newer that 2007 , even newer tools are need. if car is newer and the FREE autozone tool is blind then its junk. may store run the wrong old tools that are near useless on newer cars. here is a good tool. if serios DIY. get a serious tool (newer cars) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001QIUGVI/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 if car is old say so, as most , can use $9 tool or $20 no year, no joy, just general answers. what year, element which engine 2.4 L I4: K24A4 2003-2006, K24A8 2007+ and what country, use a modern scan tool post 2004 tool for sure. go to real shop with real tools. not old scan tools. if the CEL glows. scan it. all cars, 1988 to now (usa) all cars ,1996 era old tools work. great. (N/A here) all cars 2004 and for sure 2008 needs a modern CAN-bus scan tool. Some cars went to CAN-BUS early, YMMV. sometimes the old wrong scan tool will see old P0 federal scan codes, but will miss all the important new scan DTCs. OBD2 evolved fast, you must track this or fail.

Engine sputtering

The temperature gauge on ALL car should always start at the extreme cold end, because of the accuracy range of the sensing device. Your sputtering and stalling might be a automatic choke problem. Knowing this will happen you can brake with your left foot and press the accelerator just enough to prevent the stall, when you have to stop. Get a can of carburetor cleaner, take the filter / intake cowling off, and spray all moving parts of the carb really well. If this does OR doesn't help find a NEW mechanic!

My 06 honda element dies in am replaced iacv

tune it up yet? which engine? stalls hot or cold engine or both? can you save the stall. by fast right foot action????
  1. easy?
  2. kinda hard?
  3. impossible?????
no need guess; we can diagnose it. there are lots of causes (50) for but just 4 in physics. 1: bad 12vdc power to EFI. system. 2: lost engine compression, 1 or more cylinders. 3: lost spark to 1 or more cyl. 4: bad fueling, too much or too little. and other odd causes, EGR stuck open tops that list. 1 part down 49 to go on a guess? really?

06 honda element dies in am replaced iacv & still does it???

hot engine or cold or both, just a clue here. wow gue$$sing is expen$ive. is the CEL lamp glowing ever running,, YES?< then scan it. ok so it stalls. after the skipped 60k mile tuneup is done if it still stalls. so you use the right foot action fast acting at stall...????? and you can prevent the stall easy. 1: very easy, iSC stuck closed or throttle idle detection is bad. 2: harder to stop stall but can , EGR leaks, main EGR valve. 3: impossible. this is gross spark failure ,or loss fuel or flooding see how far you get on my list. and post back. first ,now how the EFI works not guessing it tries all the time to prevent stalls if it cant prevent it, it does stall. rule2, the ECU controls idle speeds at all times the ISC is the slave to that..... so if the ECU open the valve and the stall gets worse. its not the ISC/ECU fault. its fueling or spark. a lean engine stalls. if lean enough ,no ISC can stop that. a misfiring engine stalls, too. a tech, dont attach the ISC< no he does not he looks at spark an fuel rates. using , a scan tool. The ISC can not cover the bad tracks of bad fueling and spark nor a stuck open EGR. THE ISC is dead if the TPS is set wrong, and the ECU thinks wrongly that you are not at idle. so the ECU cuts idle controls I use my scan tool to watch the, for error,s DTCS,. and pending errors and watch for closed loop at idle. hot. if it is in close loop at idle and it stalls then the ISC is failing if rigth foot can save it easy. id bet the fueling and spark are bad or TPS not closed, signalling close or the EGR is stuck wide open' btw., if eCU drop s to limphome mod (scan it) it will infact drop all ISC idle controls.. we look for the true cause, do tests, then replace parts never the reverse or go broke fast.
