Alternator is the correct diagnosis.

that is correct you cant keep cranking and cranking 5 cranks and stop cool down trade it in or fix the problem if not a fuel pump or spark problem possible loss of compression in the motor

?Kia put a diesel in their vehicles? Learn something new every day. I would guess there must be some means of purging air from the filter. If air again accumulates, have to find out how it's getting in there. I'd be the first admit I don't work on diesels, even though I've had them in the past. And I avoid turbos like the plague.

This is a transmission related issue. If the vehicle starts but will not go in any gear you have an intrernal tranny problem. Will it move at all in neutral? Check and see if the trans fluid is at the proper level. I believe these transmissions are just drain and fill ( no filter change ) during fluid service. If the fluid level is correct and a good color, the internal differential may have come apart causing the lock up situation. If the fluid level is low ( suspect a leak especially after a service ) and low fluid will cause a no shift/drive issue

Having worked on these design nightmares, it's rather difficult. You'll have to use a cherrypicker engine hoist, disconnect the motor mounts and raise the engine to get that bit of space. There are just to many suspension and cross member parts in the way otherwise. A repair manual such as Chilton/Haynes from your local parts store (and for your make/model/year) has the step-by-step instructions.

Same thing happened to me. My DVD player stopped working and the 15A fuse for Power 1 kept blowing. Turns out that there was a little metal ring that had fallen into my powerpoint connection on the dash. It was shorting out my DVD player. Removed the ring, installed a new fuse and DVD player is back up and running.
