1. Gas Cap

While your gas cap might not seem like the most important piece of equipment in your Mercedes-Benz, it actually carries a pretty important role. It maintains pressure in the engine and prevents fuel vapors from leaking out. In some cases the check engine light will come on when the gas cap is not tightly replaced. We suggest that you unscrew the gas cap and re-tighten until it clicks, then allow the check engine light up to a day to reset. 2. Oxygen Sensor

Spark plugs and wires are responsible for creating the original spark that initiates combustion within your Mercedes-Benz, but they can fail over time. If yours are faulty, misfires will occur.

So your taillights should have 2 bulbs in them. 1 that turns on when you turn your lights on and stays on until you turn them off. That same bulb should have a 2nd circuit that lights up when you press on your brakes. The 2nd bulb appears when your reverse gear is engaged. So if you have no lights on right you have to replace both bulbs and if you have no brake light on the left you just have to replace your rear brake light bulb.

Usually the engine will run poorly, your fuel consumption will be higher than normal and if they are really bad you might get misfiring on the engine. Changing them isn't difficult and the plugs don't cost a lot. Old filters can also give similar symptoms. If your worried I would suggest you give the car a major service. Sounds like you got something sticking like the high idle sensor or it's bad all together you held the butterfly open and it got sent out of sink if that's the case you will have to re sink it then it should do fine
