Get a can of spray starting fluid from a local parts store or hardware store, then when it won't start spray the fluid into the air intake of the engine, if it starts and dies you have a fuel problem, if it doesn't start then you need to verify that no fault codes are present in the memory of the engine control module.

on the timing gears

it is eather the timing chain is skiped or there is cogs missing on the belt. so time to replace the belt or chain

Check the key is the correct one and not from another vehicle first!

Check the injectors. One of them may be stuck open.

Fuel pump or fuel injectors may be dead . Can you hear the pump buzz when cycling the key on and off ?

This sounds like it could be an Air bag fault,DO NOT ATTEMPT to replace the airbag yourself as they are operated by a small explosive charge and unless you know what you are doing they can cause serious injury.Airbags should be replaced every 10 years,the only safe option is if you have access to an OBD II Fault code reader this will diagnose any faulty sensors on the vehicle. If the Air bag is faulty you will need to have it replaced professionally at your local Garage/Dealer

If the mileage on the car is high it might be the clutch pressure plate going U/S and need to be replaced. It can also be (if fitted) the cable between the pedal and gearbox going bad and sticky. (If the car has hydraulic clutch activation it will obviously not have a cable.)

Disconnect the battery negative cable (never the positive!) for 5 minutes

Depends if its mechanical or electric. If mechanical check cable is turning when driving by removing facia. If electrical best to get it scanned by local garage
