What is making it hard to steer?
no not the dreaded renault ,best advice is to trade it in quick ,This vehicle has electric power steering located under the dash ,Now what happens is that some little unskilled youknowhat in kwikfit or wherever has realigned the tracking so the steering wheel is not level as they only adjusted one track rod end ,this upsets the software on the power steering motor ,this causes the unit to fail which means a reconditioned unit about 600euros but it can only be fitted in a renault garage as they are the only people with the software to reset the unit after it has been fitted ,no re-programmed then it will go wrong within 500kms .go and get a ford focus or a VW /skoda ,never no problems with these cars but this make are hell for us mechanics .try changing the clutch ?? its quicker and easier to lift the g/box and engine out in one
Neither headlights working or fog lights any ideas please
First check for blown fuses (a blown fuse indicates there is a short in the lighting circuit ) and check any defective relays. When vehicles are operated with the fog lights on all the time this causes the wiring for the associated circuit(s) to operate at a higher temperature and eventually it will result in a burned out non-conductive connection. Usually the wire(s) burn out where they are connected to switches, at the headlamps, fog lamps etc... Also check for a burned out connection or a melted terminal contact board used for the high beam-low beam switch which is usually located inside the steering column.
Good luck.
