2002 Saab 9-3 Questions & Answers
Tcs and check engine lights came on while driving, then cruise control and smell of anti-freeze or oil comes thru when heater/air blowing on
Go to an auto parts store to get the code(s) read for free from the OBD. That will likely explain the Check Engine light (emissions related).
Also sounds like the screws weren't torqued enough (or Loc-tite not applied) by your repair mechanic.
Recall that radiator water (and anti-freeze) is what circulates in the heater core. Hopefully it is just a leaky core and turning off the heat (or shutting of that water circuit) will eliminate the smell.
Are you losing radiator water? That would be a tip-off.
Have you checked for water in the engine oil? Bad news if that's the problem.
Ignition stuck on lock
1. Check battery - even if otherwise good, if it measures under 12 volts (even just under) it won't start. Saab's are finicky about that.
2. Does immobiliser recognize the key? If not, it won't turn. Are you using an original key mated to the car or a replacement key fob without the electronic guts?
3. Does key open the door? If so, put in ignition, turn to ON (if you can) and press Open Door button on key. Try even in Off position if not.
4. DO NOT spray anything into the ignition keyhole (as others may suggest). It will gum it up. If you have to, remove ignition keyhole and clean with alcohol.
Why is the key fob not working after flat battery?
recheck battery new doesent mean cant be defective --if battery good fob may have lost memory and u need to reprogram it or sync it turn vehicle on not start and press unlock 7-10 times if not working --than fob either internal damaged or needs to be sync by saab
