P0700 Information Code The Transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors and actuators relating to transaxle control. If any malfunction is detected, the TCM informs the PCM by sending a signal (P0700 code). P0700 means that a code has been set in the TCM. This code is for information ONLY. If this code is present, check for transaxle codes. So basically, the P0700 code is telling you to check the TCM for a transaxle DTC. The TCM can not turn on the check engine light so it has the PCM do it. The dealer probably saw the code P0700 and went to the TCM and pulled out the code stored there telling them the Transmission Solenoid Assembly (TSA) is bad. This is a good example of understanding what the codes actually mean. If the manual you looked at said the TCM is bad and to replace the TCM when you see a P0700, then it is wrong.

You have to replace your ignition switch/starter. Its a common problem with ions yet no recall. Just google it and you will get tons of threads. Its a costly repair too around 400 dollars :-(. I have had to replace mine twice in 3 years

With it being in the bell housing,which I think is one of the stupidest tricks the auto industry has ever played on us,it just neans the transmission has to come out before you can get to it.Then pull the bell housing off.Plan on a good full day of work my friend.

You may want to take it to a shop to have them diagnose it

Need more information. Is the battery good? Does it turn over? if the battery is good and it won't turn over you could have a stuck start solenoid (Tap with wrench) or the relay that energizes the starter is bad. I just replaced the relay which is part of a connector under the dash on my 98 SC2, after a new battery and an indication of no voltage to the started when the key was in the start position. works now

My 98 Saturn just did the same thing and it was the shift lever bushing. In this case the linkage felt like it was not connected to anything. Will need to put on hoist to see linkage to really tell.

check that you are putting the filter in the right way as you may be blocking the flow instead of filtering the flow.

Head Gasket has nothing to do with changing the oil If you have a bad head gasket the motor would over heat & you would be using coolant Best to go to a local shop & have a talk there & get your questions answered

If the clutch operation is good ( doesn't slip or shudder or allows the 1st gear selection ok ) then I would replace the clutch master cylinder as it may be catching in the cylinder bore or be binding up and leaving too much play and the shaft is not properly fitted into the piston . Generally unless you have replaced the slave cylinder recently I would replace that also and then the clutch system is fully serviceable for a long time to come.

I should start by saying a trouble code does not mean a component must be replaced. It only means the signal from the sensor is out of range or the affected circuit needs to be checked out. Code 121 means the signal from the TPS is either out of range or not where the computer thinks it should be. Such as the TPS tells the computer the throttle is closed when it is actually open. You would need to use a scanner to see the data coming from the sensor to tell if it is working or not. The problem could be the throttle or the wiring back to the computer.
