Knocking in front end had

replace the front struts AND the turn plates above them, they call those the "strut kits". it houses a bearing plate that turn with the steering wheel.... if the struts are too expensive to replace right now, just have the strut KITS replaced. Very common with 80K+ front wheel drive cars and almost always an area most people look over. good luck

Can't figure out how to

Open the trunk and pull back the upholstry, and there are usually 4 or so thumb nuts that unscrew, and the whole assembly releases. Then you can see the access to the bulbs. This arrangement is much more water tight than previous designs,

You probably have to get the security code. Call your dealership and make sure you have all your vehicle information with you.

Computer showed that we have

You can take the negative terminal off the battery and let it sit for at least 15 min, then reconnect and turn the key on and wait for the diagnostics to turn the lights off, then turn the key on and let the computer re-learn its idle pattern and such, this should clear it if you have repaired the defect. If it doesn't clear then the repair wasn't correct or not installed correctly and needs furthur attention.

My car won't start sometimes.

Hi, these problems are unrelated--lucky you.
1. The starting issue could be your safety interlock or possibly a security system blip. Next time it happens, try starting it in neutral rather than park. If that works, replace the park/neutral switch.
2. The surging could be a failure of your idle air control valve or wiring/connector. What I would do is troubleshoot the valve to see why it is opening so much. I can provide some procedures for doing that if you have a multi-meter and some understanding of electronics.
3. The coolant light may be a bad reservoir sensor. Try disconnecting the sensor. If that turns the light off, replace the sensor.

Please let me know if you have questions; and if you need more specific info please reply with year, model, and engine size.

Thanks for using FixYa.

IGNITION KEY WILL NOT TURN

Pull sharplly on the steering wheel in one direction while you attempt to turn the key in the lock cylinder. If this does not work, the pull in the other direction. These were always known for this. Try not to park against a curb stone with your wheels turned, and in fact, try not to park with your wheels turned at all. I can't count how many times I had to rescue my wife from this situation. We own a Toyota now, and I think that's why. Good Luck.

Car does not run ,I

Because it is not starting, you should replace the Crankshaft sensor (above the oil filter, back of the engine)-it will cause a P0700-I have a 99 SL2, 178,000 miles

DTC) CODE # P0700....Transmission Control System (MIL Request)
Translation: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Malfunction or Failure. P0700 Information Code The Transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors and actuators relating to transaxle control. If any malfunction is detected, the TCM informs the PCM by sending a signal (P0700 code). P0700 means that a code has been set in the TCM. This code is for information ONLY. If this code is present, check for transaxle codes. So basically, the P0700 code is telling you to check the TCM for a transaxle DTC. The TCM can not turn on the check engine light so it has the PCM do it. The dealer probably saw the code P0700 and went to the TCM and pulled out the code stored there telling them the Transmission Solenoid Assembly (TSA) is bad. This is a good example of understanding what the codes actually mean. If the manual you looked at said the TCM is bad and to replace the TCM when you see a P0700, then it is wrong.

When its really cold,the throttle

I would have the throttle body professionaly cleaned first. There is a radiator cooling hose that runs to the throttle body that may be plugged and causing the throttle plate to frost and stick.
Have the throttle body cleaned and the cables inspected, that should take care of your problem.
Good luck.

My Saturn ion won't start

sounds like a plugged fuel filter,,,changed it lately?? what might be occurring is,,after turning the engine over for a few minutes,,it just cant get the fuel,,,then after sitting the fuel slowly goes threw the filter,, and you get enough for the engine to start,,,clean filters are a must,,,give this some thought,,,their about 10 bucks if you change it yourself.

After changing a flat tire,

look for a button, under the ignition switch, which allows you to remove the key. look with flashlight if you need to. you've drove the car before and know how to remove the key right? maybe,he just is'nt familiar with your vehicle. or try this, turn the steering wheel from left to right, while attempting to turn the key switch off.if you are on a hill,or curve,or perhaps stuck and the cars in a transmission 'bind' you may have to release the emegency brake and put the car in neutral and let it roll forwards or backwards for a few feet, then attempt to start it.maybe it will start for you then.thank you for choosing fixya.com we are here to assist 24/7 7days per week if you need further assistance, please repost your questions to fixya.com!

Low power when accelaring

Possible constriction of exhaust system. The muffler or catalytic converter might have collapsed and this can be checked by blocking the exhaust briefly while the engine is idling. If there is no change in the engine speed then that would be a symptom of a constricted exhaust system.
