are you on ice. or dirt. if not better read the operators guide, as that is wrong. if driving on dry pavement. move to dirt or gravel area and shift back to 2H cured now. next time dont drive on non iced roads in 4wd or 4Lo or it will bind up. need a suzuki TSB warning you? have it. http://www.fixkick.com/part-time-test.html solution, i think is stop doing that. the TSB solves the after you messed up .

in park?/neutral, at 0 mph>? use a stethoscope ($5 tool)????? and listen to it. ever do the 60k mile service, no, then now is the time. called LASH setting. done at ever 60k timing belt change. all this is listed in the operators guild, lost that? do the 60k and see what happens.

Question edited for clarity. Took me ages to work out you meant whining, not winding. I was thinking like 'wind noise', or was it like winding a clock? No they have to be like for like. It is a preprogrammed computer and they don't adapt and learn. One ECM, one job only. There are places that will repair your old one.

Yes you have likely burned up the engine and that is what all the smoke is about. Also you may have a massive coolant leak, maybe a radiator hose or other cooling system component.

2. battery volts, not 13.3 to 15vdc running, idle 800?rpm?
3. is charge lamp glowing key on, if fix that now. not running, it must glow or some ALTS will not boot up, called cold excitation current, that some NEED. fix the lamp.
4. wiring bad. to alt. or alt casing not grounded.
5. or car stalls.?
6. or battery goes dead when you sleep or long day at work>?
7. try to say what NO CHARGE MEANS? why do you say it.?
8. on new USA cars, some the ECU runs the ALT, so, and 2001 is common here, but I cant look for you can I. (no books on JIMNY)

could be a short in circuit somewhere because Daytime running lights don't have to be separate lights - some car manufacturers combine them with the front position lamps (side lights) in which case the daytime running lights will dim when the headlights are turned on. If daytime running lights are located very close to indicator lights then the DRL on the appropriate side of the vehicle must turn off while the indicator is operating to avoid masking its signal.

Means we have no books on Jimny here...for that fact. forget that lamp CEL?, it glows telling you , PCM has power and as a self test on lamp on all cars. but the IMMO lamp? that be #1 to see... if fitted. as some are. what matters only is this.. see how far you can get.? won't start means nothing unless you say it cranks and don;t start. starter motor sounds ok, not silent.? see, we can hear this or guess. and is KEY to the reasons. all you can do is test fuse. see if cluster immoblizer light is glowing funny or flashing wrong. dont crank ,? clean battery lugs, and then charge battery jumper cable crank it. cranks ok, check for spark. if dont know how get tow to shop that does.

no year? the solenoid can be for many functions, the old cars has 1 , called the TCC. clutch lock up, the ECU sends (or TCM) sends 12vdc to it near 45mph to lockup the main clutch (TC) the solenoid opens, and main line pressure passes through this valve to the Solenoid lock it self, the lock engages and TCC locks up. later years, they shift all gears this way with 3 or more solenoids. get the FSM and read the Tranny chapter.

on pavement , dirt or sand? (ice?) not stock, ???? key point that. if is, its in the manual and door jamb. if car is stock and tires are not stock then the body tag for pressure will be wrong. (you did it) there are 2 ways to do this. if not stock use the tire engineering tables for weight and tire presssure. bingo , its a fact each maker of all tires have this table !!!!! WAY 2: (rubber meet the road , LOL) or use the tire print test.. under pressure tires, cup over pressure tires, crown, (RTM) both cause poor pavement traction, especially on ice. the tire print trick is with chock/ink/paint on the tread?, roll car , see prints.?
