The traction active light pops
The Traction Control is part of the ABS system. This sound like a possible speed sensor harness problem (pretty common on GMC vehicles). There are two wire harness that plug into each front wheel speed sensors and sometimes, when turn the wheel these harnesses flex with wheel movement, thus causing a erratic speed signal to the computer which in turns causes the light to come on, because the computer thinks one wheel is spinning.
Keep in mind that the only way to know for sure is to have the ABS scanned for codes, so, what needs to be done from here is to have the fault codes checked in the ABS/Traction computer to see if any are set, any shop or dealer can do this and a local parts store might check fault codes for you free of charge as I have hard of before.
Then it can be diagnosed as to what is at fault and then repaired. If no codes are set then the vehicle needs driven with the scan tool plugged into the vehicle to observe the wheel speed sensor signals, if a wheel speed sensor signal is found not reading close to the other wheel speed sensor signals then this is the suspect sensor and the connections need checked at the sensor as well as the wiring to make sure it is OK.
Most of the time it ends up being a faulty wheel speed sensor and needs replaced.
Hope this helps.

Do you mean that the engine shuts off when you come to a stop? If so, you need to have the throttle body cleaned, grime build up in the throttle body will cause a lean condition. This shutting off happens especially with the AC on.

Either you left a light on for a while, commonly headlights and dome lights, or the alternator is bad.
Get a jump start and run the engine for a while, it should charge the battery if it was just you left the lights on.
If the car won't stay running, take a trip to Autozone and have them test your alternator (don't worry, it's free and can be done in the car if you would rather tow the car than try to remove the alternator).
