Your thermostat is located at the back of the engine while looking at the engine bay. Unfortunately you need a GM tool that holds your timing in place while changing the thermostat on one of these engines.

Fuel filter is along the fuel line on the bottom side of the car. If you follow the fuel line from the gas tank up you will come across a mini keg looking device. That is your fuel filter. Tends to be at about the half way point on the drivers side.

Well the code means there is a problem with the cam sensor position for bank 2. The sensor is telling the engine computer the cam is in a different position that it should be. You would need to check the signal from the sensor, and the actual cam to find the problem.
