Hav a 2008 Aveo 5. Tester says bad tps but told hav to replace entire throttle body.is this accurate?

By tester, do you mean you have a P012x/P022x code from a code reader? If so, be sure to verify that the TPS itself is bad, and that you don't have a circuit (wiring) problem. RockAuto lists the TPS as a separate part, so if it does turn out to be bad, you should be able to replace just the TPS. Some cars require that the TPS be calibrated with the ECM after installation; don't know about yours.

2008 Chevy Aveo dash board light and shifter

I don't understand how a 2008 vehicle is still under warranty? It's 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first. So I don't think you can do the 'lemon' thing. Sounds like you need to find a better shop!

What color and how many wires on the starter for a 2008 chevy aveo5

There are like three bolts holding the entire starter assembly in. The wires to it are large to carry a lot of amperage. There are basically two and they will have learned the position they are bolted on. remove them and then replace the old unit with the new and the wires will want to go back tot heir old positions. If you are uncomfortable doing this then don't. I did this once on a Ford 460 on a freeway on ramp. It is very quick and easy. Here is a link to picture of the starter: http://www.jcwhitney.com/2004-2008-chevrolet-aveo/auto-7-oe-replacement-starter-remanufactured/p3044588d17269y2004-2008j1.jcwx

Can't shift into R, 3rd, or 4th gear?

its likely your throwout bearing is stuck its on a shaft that lets it glide back an forth . soon you wont be able to turn the engine over at all as it will now rust or jam. when they replace it they will need to polish the shaft well or will happen again.

Fuse for cigarette lighter on

The fuse you are looking for is in the instrument panel fuse box located inside the vehicle. It's a little different between the hatchback and the sedan but the panels are in the same location. Below i gave you a picture of the location for both of them. If you have the hatchback, the fuse you are looking for wil be marked "LTR" and if you have the sedan it will be the one marked cigar (see layout of fuses below for both below). This should be in your owners manual if you have one. If you don't and would like a copy, You can email me at [email protected] with your make model and year and I will be happy to email you a copy. I hope this helps and good luck.clifford224_393.gifclifford224_394.gifclifford224_395.gifclifford224_396.gif

Engine light came on went

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
You mean fuel tank pressure sensor? You may just have system failure. As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive battery connector and let it sit for at least 5mins. This will reset the system and can get your vehicle back to it's normal operation and it can get rid of the check engine light.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

I have a 2008 aveo.

If you are talking about the headlight casing, where the clear headlight casing connects to your back headlight casing, that isn't the way to change the light bulb, you're going to damage the seals that protect water, and humidity.
Here's a good site to visit http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_replace_headlight_bulbs_in_Chevy_Aveo

My 2008 aveo5 is leaking what looks like oil. I

If the gasket is on the oil pan you may try tightening the bolt. To tighten pan gaskets you'll need to tighten in steps in a crisscross pattern. Snug a bolt move across the pan snug another bolt. Do this until all bolts are snug. Do not over tighten pan gasket bolts or leaks will occur. Just uniformly snuf.
