I have a 2008 chevy hhr, starts fine and idles

Have you replaced the spark plugs or coil packs? A lot of times spark plugs will only miss once a load is put on them. Here are some tips to help you narrow it down. All you need is a screw driver and a code reader. First, is your check engine light on? ----> if yes, try to get the code it is throwing is the code current? ----> if no 1. Pop the hood 2. Remove the air filter box cover and inspect the filter ---> is the air filter clean? If no, replace the air filter If yes, remove the engine cover - 3. Find the fuel rail located toward the back of the engine bay and find all 4 injectors. Place your thumb over the end of a long flat blade screw driver, place it carefully on each injector, and place your thumb on your ear. With the engine running, listen for fires from the injector -----> are all 4 injectors firing rapidly at the same rate? ----> if yes, start with replacing all 4 spark plugs ----> if no, replace the fuel injector that is not firing If yes ---> is the code for an engine misfire? See above instructions if no ----> is the code for throttle body position? if yes ---> Replace the throttle body position sensor and perform the relearn process via tech II scan tool. These are the most common issues with misfiring with engines, hope it helps or leads you in the right direction.

Rear door won't stay shut

Check the latch mechanism on the door. There is a piece of the latch that closes around the clasp on the door frame. sometimes this closes when the door is open and you can't shut the door. Take a screw driver and flip this latch piece open and close the door.

Does the back lock when in gear?

Yes. If you have the car set to lock doors when shifted out of park, this will also lock the rear hatch.

Shuts down at stop signs

do the simple test start the car and see if it idles normally-- foot off the brake--if so good now put your foot on the brake -does the engine stop-- if so then replace the brake booster as it has a vacuum leak you may not notice the difference as most people sit at lights with their foot on the brake so all they understand is that the engine stops at lights.

On 2008 hhr with a 2.2 engine, where exactly is the input speed sensor. Auto zone tells me one thing and pep boys another. Thanks

IT sounds like your talking about the W S S vehicle wheel speed sensor .There on the wheels you may have 2 or more but at least 2 . What they do is generate a low dc voltage .5 v as a referance voltage to compare with the v v s witch is the speed that the drive shaft is spinning . The sensor is in the tail stock of the transmission OUTPUT

How to remove and replace headlight bulbs in a 2008 chevy.HHR

The trick to replacing all new bulbs on cars now it removing the whole lens. There will be a couple of screws holding it in when looking from above in the engine compartment. Once you loosen the screws it is not as if it comes out easily. It will take a little extra oomph to get it out. once out it goes back in very easily. When the lens is out you can access the bulb very easily.

What would make the throttle stick?

Drive by wire accelerator is bad...Your pedal is part of a rheostat type of switch which varies the current needed (throttle) to accelerate the engine power...Since they are easily worn after a period of time they should be checked every year...Most people don't realize they are electronic switching devices instead of the old linkage system. Have it tested and replaced immediately.
