I've got a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and the key won't turn in the ignition. It's one of those key fobs and it's in park and the steering wheel won't turn. Any easy fix I'm overlooking?
If all else fails try disconnecting the battery for 30secs or so... It worked for us!! Saved big$$ on towing it in and the dealerships doing the same thing..

What is the best way to push back the cylinder on the rear caliper?
I replaced the front ones just fine using a ''C'' clamp, but the rear ones seem not to go back is there a trick to it?
Older vehicles with caliper parking brakes rotated their pistons in a ratchet effect. To retract those they needed to be pushed in and rotated at the same time.I cannot stand rear disc brakes.Seems they fail way too often.GM had that issue with its W body cars (1987-up),pads would wear to steel in 6 months or less. Did the face of the piston have 2 or 4 square/rectangular/round holes in it? There is a tool to hook onto a ratchet to let you turn and push the piston back in. If you banged it in, the system may not work correctly.
Go and rent the Caliper Brake Kit from Auto Zone, it make your brake job way easier. This tool compresses the piston while it rotates clockwise. So if you are going to do your own rear brake job get this tool or something similar.
Good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, Recap: The cylinder does not compress on the rears, it screws back in. A special tool for rear calipers works best but a pair of needle nose pliers will do in a pinch.

2008 Grand Caravan won't start. The lock/unlock and PANIC buttons work on the remote but when insterted into the ignitionn the van does not start.
I am having this same issue with my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan , I had it towed to the local Dodge Dealership. They just told me that it is the Wireless Control Module and it is going to cost $461.00 to replace it.

2009 Dodge Caravan
Keyless remote stopped working, I replaced battery but still no go. Suggestions?
The 1997 to 2003 Dodge Caravan and Grand Caravan use a standard key and
remote setup with a separate remote fob. However, the 2004 to 2009 Dodge
Caravan and Grand Caravan use a combination key and remote on one
device. To program a new keyless entry remote for the 1997 to 2003 Dodge
Caravan, you must have at least one functional remote, which is
required to enter synchronization mode. To program the combination key
for the 2004 to 2009 Dodge Caravan, you must have two functional
combination keys. If you do not, you'll need to see an authorized Dodge
dealer for keyless entry programming assistance.

Hope this help (remember comment and rated).

ESP/BAS warning light on. went into a left hand. Traction control kicked on and esp/bas light came on. when vehickle is shut off and turned back on esp/bas light comes back on and traction control is disabled. i am able to reset traction control by pressing the off on button two times. There is not a book on the market yet that covers 2008 dodge caravans.
Hi, these systems are all linked together. Most commonly, one of the wheel speed sensors is not reading or is reading incorrectly. This can also occur on slippery surfaces where one or more wheel slides enough to cause the sensor to drop the signal, but not enough to meet criteria for an abs or esp episode. If the light comes back every time you turn on the ignition, there is a deeper problem.
The system has detected a fault in the electronic stability program - brake assist system. You have an electrical connection at the rear wheels secured to the inside of the brake area and are viewable from under the vehicle. It is a small wire harness running to each wheel. Grab the connector and wiggle it around, and make sure they are tight. Due to the connector being mounted low to the ground, sometimes they become dirty or corroded, not making contact. Do this on both sides and see if the lights turn off.
If the light does not turn off, you have to replace dynamics sensor, which is mounted UNDERNEATH the center console in the car. There is a "lost communication to dynamics sensor" and "low voltage to dynamics sensor supply"..

Anyone have the fix for this issue? I have an 08 Grand Caravan that when I turn on sporadically and intermittently my windshield wipers started moving back and forth when they where off, all the dash indicator lights kept flashing off and on and the gauges kept going off or jumping back and forth. I can't open/close windows or lock/unlock doors from driver's side door controls and the car chime noise keeps going off like I just put in the key. This problem continues as long as the car is being operated and does not stop at all even when driving, It occurred about every other day for a few weeks but now is going on all the time and happens about every 10-40 seconds. I read that someone else was able to remove the drivers' side door fuse to get rid of the nuisance symptoms. I did this and it stopped the symptoms, but that isn't the final fix obviously. I hope that someone may know what the "fix is" for this issue as it seems to be similar to the Power Control Module (PCM) type of issues that Dodge has had in the past. I may need to get it replaced or perhaps reflashed. Not sure if that is the fix or if someone else has had this problem and had a solution that I can try before going that seemingly expensive route.
Hi, I also have a Dodge Grand Caravan 2008 with similar problems. The
windshield wipers would come on for no reason, A/C would cut off and not
come back on, none of the controls would work from the drivers side
door panel, "dinging" noise would come on intermittent, headlights would
flash like they had a mind of their own, dashboard would light up
erracticly, etc.
After much searching on the internet, this seems to
be not so uncommon. I brought it in to the dodge dealer where I
purchased the vehicle and about $300 and 3 hours later the tech FINALLY
found the problem! Most of the wiring from the door panel back to the
body are "stranded" wires. These wires are made to be bent, time and
time again, as the drivers door is the most used. But there is a control
module that is also located inside the drivers door and it uses a
"twisted pair" of really small gauge SOLID wire (that goes back to the
onboard computer). If any of you out there have ever used Ethernet wire
you know exactly what I am talking about. These are the same wires down
to the color coding! Guess what happens when you bend a very small
diameter wire over and over and over again? One of the small wires broke
inside the rubber boot between the door and body. The tech told me what
he found and spliced the wires with a 50 cent connector. The guy was
honest and "kudos" to Salsbury Dodge in Baton Rouge. In my opinion this
should have been covered under the warranty because it was clearly a
defect in material and WORKMANSHIP (not to mention just a really DUMB
idea from the designers at Dodge). This $300 fix lasted about 1 1/2
years and the problem came back. This time I fixed it myself with a new
connector and a multimeter. Put the leads of the meter on both ends of
the suspect wire and check for continuity. You will find that one of the
twisted pair will have a break inside the insulation. Cut out the break
and splice with an inline connector and wrap with a small amount of
electrical tape. For my car the break was inside the rubber boot. If you
are not comfortable with taking your door apart, bring it to an honest
mechanic and he should have you in and out in about 3 hours (and
hopefully a LOT less than 300 bucks). Hopes this helps.

When I turn the car on, the ABS/Traction Control/BAS & Brake light stays on. I checked the brake fluid, & it was a little low, so I added a little. Lights stayed off for a few minutes, then came back on. Brakes are working fine. Any suggestions? Safe to drive? Thank you!
It is safe to drive. You need a scan tool to get a code out of it. Could be as simple as a wheel speed sensor going bad. All of these lights will work together normally. The traction control uses the ABS to gain traction, and the Brake Assist System is part of the stability control. Also uses the ABS.
