2007 Saturn ION-2 Quad Coupe - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Hello,
Did you have a specific engine code requiring replacement of the Cam Position Sensor?
Did you recently replace the thermostat or run low on coolant or have some other cooling system work done? The temperature sensor can be bad, or simply have a loose wire connection. Check those. There can be air in the coolant system as well. Finally, the thermostat could be sticking and will need to be replaced.
These issues have nothing to do with the Air Conditioner. However, the AC will not cool if the car is sitting still unless the condenser fans (electric) are running. Turn on the AC and check to ensure the cooling fans energize.
Most of these items you can check yourself, however if not, then have your mechanic or a mechanically inclined family member or friend check them for you.
Best regards,

2007 satur ion 2.2 runs rough after rain
When the light is on have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes , do you know what they are ? Ignition system problem , coil's , plug wires if the vehicle has then . The check engine light code is probably for a engine misfire .

Dome Light (switched circuit now working) Shorted it out
Why didn't you hook into the entertainment system (radio ) ?
The one that turns on when the door opens is controlled by the BCM -body control module .You probably shorted out the transistor in side the BCM .
These lamps may be manually turned on by placing the interior lamp switch in the ON position, or by opening a door.
• The Dome Lamp
• The Rear Compartment Courtesy Lamp
• The Rear View Mirror Map Lights
The inadvertent power control circuit of the BCM supplies battery positive voltage to the dome lamp and the map lamps. When any door is opened, the door jamb switch contacts close providing a door open input to the BCM. The BCM then provides a ground to the interior lamps. The interior lamps receive a ground at G401 or G403.
If the driver inadvertently leaves any interior lamp on the BCM will turn it off after a 20 minute time-out.
The courtesy lamps will normally turn off using the theater dimming feature. The BCM provides a pulse width modulated ground to the interior lamps for the theater dimming feature. The courtesy lamps will also turn off immediately if a door lock command is received with all the doors closed, or if the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.

No electric power to left door Fuse and relay are good
Check the wire lume that runs from the body to the door inside a rubber bellow. the wires can break from constant moving and I'm not sure what vehicle you have, but this is a defect for a few vehicles out there the wire can be to short in some cases from cost saving manufacturing. It may be necessary to remove the door panel and remove the harness through the wire opening to be able to move the boot far enough to access the broken wire or even just to check it in some cases.
How I like to repair it, is to put a new wire through the entire pivot point and join it inside the door and body where the wire does not move constantly.
Hope this helps

Having shifting problems
something must be in the way blocking the shifter maybe inside the car something fell into the console or the console was moved or the linkage underneath is bent ? if you can go from 1-2 and have neutral there but can't go further in the shift pattern I suspect what I listed also there could be a broken bushing in the linkage get under it after safely jacking up and put it on stands and inspect all linkage parts for missing or bent parts also look under the console first it easier for an object that's stuck in there ? ( a pen maybe )

Windows fog up
does this happen when snow is sucked into the vents or does it happen all the time. If it happens all the time it could be a leaking heater core. if the windsheld has a film on it and smells sweet like anti freeze you have a leak in the heating system

Check engine light is on
Stop by an Auto Zone they will hook up to it for free and tell you the code that is causing the C.E.L. but yes a loose gas cap could cause a CEL to come on.

Saturn ion2 gear selector
It would be the switch inside the linkage or the switch on the transmission that causes this or water or corrosion on the connector. I think it uses the signal from the transmission range selector switch on the transmission to trigger the locks. Have it checked out before you replace any parts as this is only an educated guess. The switch is also called the neutral safety switch.

07Saturn Ion having trouble starting & lingering gas smell.
the gas smell is from all the gas into the clylinders when it dont start,,,normal,,,,,,the no start issue is from the electrical ignition switch goes bad when it gets cold out and doesnt let the car start,,you need a new ignition switch like $40 and reprogram it to the car,i would take it to the dealer, asap because right now you are lucky that it does eventually start, one day it will not start at all so get this fixed before you get stuck
