How difficult is it to change the fuel pump in a Grand Cherokee 98?

You will have to drop the fuel tank to gain access to the fuel pump. Use a floor jack to support the fuel tank. Hopefully it is empty. If not fill someone else's tank up with your fuel. You will first have to disconnect the rubber hoses that go to the filler neck. There will be two. Then undo the two straps that support the fuel tank. Carefully lower the tank to get access to the electrical connections for the gauge and the fuel pump. Disconnect them. There will be a couple of fuel line you need to disconnect now also. You have to push two tangs in towards the fuel line and gently pull the connection apart. Then lower the tank and remove from under the vehicle to remove the screw on cap that holds the fuel pump and sending unit in the tank. Once the cap is removed gently lift up and tilt the assembly so you can clear the float out the top without bending the arm attached to the float. The fuel pump is in the center of the assembly. A very pricey item. Expect to pay from 160.00 to 230.00 for the pump. Two other things before you start this project to check. Check the fuel pump relay in the power distribution box in the engine area. If it is bad replace it before going any further. Also on the fuel rail is a cap that you need to remove to bleed off the fuel pressure in the system. It looks like a typical valve stem inside that you would see if you put air into your tire. Beware- pressure runs around 40 PSI. Protect your eyes and if you smoke -don't do so while you work on this system. Good luck. I hope this gets you where you need to get started.

2000 gmc sierra the headlights wont come on

The fuse is a good start. The headlight may also have a relay, which may be in another box similar to the fuse box. Check the fuse before the bulbs - it's more likely that a single fuse would blow, than both headlights blowing at once. the switch. Not sure where this is located on your car (dashboard? blinker column?) but that's another single point of failure that could explain both lights malfunctioning at once. check the fuses for the headlights, and the headlamp relay first. good-day !

Has spark has gas wont start

You may have weak fuel pressure. These trucks are critical that the pressure be accurate. 1 psi low will cause a no start. Spray some brake cleaner or carb cleaner in the throttle to see if it will start. If it does then you have a fuel issue.

My 2000 gmc pick up only blows luke warm air. Temp

That temp gauge reading worries me. You might want to exchange the thermostat for a new 190F-210F thermostat (195F is good for summer, 210F really helps during winter). It should be a quick procedure.

I have a 2000 gmc

This is only an idea-pull column shifter boot-you will notice a ORANGE wrapped wire which runs from the button on the shifter down toward the steering column. This is the Tow/haul wire. The way this is positioned on the steering column will cause the wire to be pinched when ever the steering wheel is adjusted. This pinching can cause a short or cause the tow/haul not to work at all. NOTE: Inside this orange wire wrap are two very fine fiber wires. Be careful and good luck

GMC 2000 sierra pick up 1500 sounds like it wants

It sure could be. But, first...by "won't turn over" you do mean it cranks at normal speed but won't start?A simple test of the fuel pump is to stand by tank and listen as someone turns key to on. When first turned to on, your pump will activate for 2 or 3 seconds, pressurizing the fuel system, and then shut off if the engine computer doesn't get a cranking signal. Do you hear it come on? If not, then something's not turning your pump on. If you can hear it buzz on briefly, then maybe it's your filter. Another test: Spray a little starting fluid into your intake manifold (remove the big hose going into intake manifold) while someone tries starting it.If it doesn't fire and try to stay running, then it's probably an ignition problem. But if it does fire off, then you know it's a fuel problem-likely your pump or filter. good luck.

Dome light doesnt come on when door is open

pretty easy to diagnose: power goes into the fuse for that circuit, from fuse to the dome light, and the door switches are wired in as an on-off switch. So, check your fuse, check your bulb, and if they are both good, then either your door switches are inoperative (may need cleaning, pull them out and check for operation. See if one of the wires is hot) OR, you have a short, a broken wire somewhere (least likely scenario). I hope you find the problem.
