Fuel pressure regulation
The engine seized? From a vacuum hose o-ring? I would pull the spark plugs and crank the engine over by hand with a socket on the crank pulley bolt, to be certain the engine was seized. If it is, or very difficult to turn round, the engine will have to be torn down.
Gets hot shouts off
could be coil getting hot and shutting down, or fuel pump getting hot and doing the same
High pitch humming from rear end
You might need the rear differential fluid changed or just add more. You can do so by removing the screw in plug on the side which requires a 1/2" drive ratchet. You can check your service manual for what type of fluid to use.

Go to Autozone.com and register your car for free wiring diagrams and fusebox layouts. Another site is alldatadiy.com for the same things.Look at the wiring and fusebox layouts and see if there is any common connection between the A/C wiring and the AWD light.I can tell you when it comes to shifting from normal to all wheel drive in Ford systems, they use a single wire that carries different voltages. The difference is so slight, that having a burned out dash light can change the transfer case from 2 wheel to 4 wheel drive, just because the voltage is bypassing a burned out bulb. Should your A/C and AWD work in a similar method it would explain what is happening to you.The extra unused power increases the power available and alters the functions of the controls. Something different happens at each posiitionso low becomes medium and medium becomes high for example. Now you may want to start by replacing Relays. Because someone was right when this was mentioned. Most people do not know that there are more than 1 set of contacts inside of a relay. Many times half of the Relay may be stuck on, and not release when the control is shut off. This allows for some weird power connections. The Web sites I mentioned can show fuse Relay positions. See what may be common to the A/C and AWD.

Camshaft position sensor
Symptoms can include:
- Hard starting or no start
- Rough running / misfiring
- Loss of engine power
A code P0340 could mean one or more of the following has happened:
- a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken
- the camshaft position sensor may have failed
- the PCM may have failed
- there exists an open circuit
- the crankshaft position sensor may have failed
With a P0340 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here
are some things to try:
- Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit
- Check for continuity in the circuit wiring
- Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor
- Replace the camshaft position sensor as required
- Check the crankshaft position circuit as well
- Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required
- Diagnose/replace the PCM as required
