Turn key on wait for all dashboard lights to appear / light up - turn key off then repeat this 5 times . finally start car / run a few minutes - turn off this will reset factory security . Or Disconnect battery positive then leave it for 30 min. - reconnect and start car . A whole lot of info about Bypassing GM passkey ll anti - theft is on google . The computer chip wears out etc. It was A Really Useless Idea invented By Overpriced suit & Ties . Best security ever is Big Dog in front passenger seat . Good Luck .
My high beam light is flashing on and off in day but when I turn the lights on it goes off. Also, I now have now day time running lights.
Daytime running Light module is overheating / it reduces power to low beam to create daytime running light . Ask yourself do I need this - If no law against it = UNPLUG control module . Your low beams will operate normal by turning on switch - Lever / Turn switch will turn on Highbeams but this switch can be Lose internally and Only cure is replace Signal Light Steering wheel switch . Common issue for all Cars is switch stalk / Lever is worn out by Aggressive use. If your car has Automatic light control - re they turn off after 30 second delay when you exit car - Try putting switch in manual mode means you Turn on - off by switch . But I really feel signal stalk is worn . DRCM is a known issue that can be unplugged . Final cheap solution unplug both high beams an Drive on low beam . $$$$$$$ spent chasing small problem will destroy $$$ needed for Bigger issues .
Cannot get gears untill engine is warm
assuming fluid is full to cold level is the color light red/pink ? If dark grungy and is same when hot - will need changing . GM trans oil loses its thickness - lubrication qualities due to heat / age etc. Ergo unwilling to engage gear / hold gear . Most cars have shift interlock meaning foot must depress brake too move gear shift = Nuetral safety switch receives pressure from brake pedal if it fails to recognize or is worn then trans will not want engage gear .
High beam flashing
Ground wire from backside of headlight pod to radiator support area may be loose / corroded ?? common issue also Turn signal switch = the stalk on left side of steering column is used frequently for signal lights . Is it loose / wobbly / or easy to engage signal with no resistance or click sound ? If so then Turn signal switch has flash to pass or on / off high beam that wears out = wrecker is cheapest as a new one can be 100.$$ plus .
Refilling radiator in 96 grand am 6 cly 3,1
The entire cooling system holds 13.1 quarts. This includes antifreeze and water. Install no more than 9 quart 5 oz maximum of antifreeze and the rest is water. This will give you a 70% antifreeze and 30% water in the coolant system. You will have minus 45 degrees F or colder protection. Minimum antifreeze added would be 6 quart 18 oz and the rest is water. This would give you the minimum protection needed for your coolant system. If you live up in the colder climates, I would go with the 70% to 30% ratio of antifreeze to water. This is for the 3.1 L 6 cyl engine only.
ENGINE STALLS WHEN I STEP ON GAS PEDAL
Sounds like your fuel pump is going bad! The more you press on the pedal the more demand is on the pump and it cant keep up cuz its junk. Try to limp it to a shop to replace it, unless u wanna do that yourself.....
The car wont go into gear until its warmed up
it will not move because it is low on transmission fluid, warming the car casues the fluid to expand therefore making movement possible. also fluid looses viscosity when heated so you may want to look a full fransmission fluid and filter change. But still, get your car warm and check the transmission fluid, i bet its low. Dont forget to rate.
