Made loud pop then cut off now it just clicks when you turn the key

Could be lots of things but just a click when you turn the key tend to suggest the engine might be locked due perhaps to a broken timing chain or belt. Clearly some checks need to be carried out, starting with turning the engine manually with a wrench on the crankshaft pulley bolt to ensure it is mechanically ok or verify that it isn't.

5.3l. Why does it sometimes smoke a lot during morning start up?

Most likely bad valve guides if the smoke is derived from oil. This would require a cylinder head job. If the smoke is white, then most likely a stuck/leaking fuel injector. If it is gray could be leaking coolant into combustion chambers also most likely requiring cylinder head rebuild.

Service Air Bag light on

DTC B0058 Right Front/Passenger Pretensioner Deployment Loop Open. The passenger seat belt pretensioner deployment loop consists of a seat belt pretensioner-RF and the seat belt pretensioner-RF high and low circuits. A shorting bar used within the seat belt pretensioner connector shorts together both the seat belt pretensioner high and low circuits when the connector is disconnected. This will help to prevent unwanted deployment of the pretensioner during servicing. During a frontal crash of sufficient force the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) will allow current to flow through the deployment loop in order to deploy the seat belt pretensioner. The SDM performs continuous diagnostic tests on the deployment loops to check for proper circuit continuity and for shorts to ground or voltage. If a malfunction is detected, a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) will be stored in memory. DTC B0084 Left Front/Driver Seat Position Sensor Circuit The inflatable restraint seat position sensor (SPS) is used to determine the proximity of a front driver or passenger seat position with respect to the frontal air bag. The SPS interfaces with the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). The state of the SPS allows the SDM to disable stage 2 of the frontal air bag for a front seat that is forward of a forward/rearward point in seat track travel. The SPS is a hall effect sensor that is mounted on the inside seat track of both the driver and passenger seats. The seat track includes a metal bracket that shunts the SPS magnetic circuit creating 2 states of seat position. The shunted state represents a rearward seat position. The non-shunted state represents a forward position. The SPS provides 2 current ranges, one range for the shunted state and a second range for a non-shunted state. These 2 states are inputs to the SDM. State 1 (shunted) being the rearward threshold and state 2 (non-shunted) being the forward threshold. When the SDM receives input from a SPS that state 1 threshold is reached (seat is rearward) the SDM will not disable stage 2 deployment, if required by the deployment sensors. When state 2 threshold is reached (seat is forward) the SDM will disable stage 2 deployment on the side the seat is forward. The SDM monitors the SPS circuit and if a fault is detected the SDM will set codes B0083 or B0084 and defaults to disabling stage 2 frontal deployment. This will only default on the side of the vehicle the sensor has a fault. Its important to understand that the SPS is secondary to the passenger presence system (PPS) and the manual instrument panel (I/P) module disable switch. If either one of these devices are in the disable mode the passenger air bag will not deploy regardless of the SPS status. You should take this to a qualified repair Shop ! Takes special tools to test .

Heater problems

Does the blower motor work properly? Can you hear the blower motor when you change speeds? Next, I have to check the actuators under the dash. Can you check for hvac trouble codes? Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes for free.

How do I remove alternator

Hi, follow the instruction below..
  • Open the Envoy's hood and locate the battery. Remove the negative battery cable from the battery with an adjustable wrench. The negative battery cable will be attached to the negative battery post, which has a minus (-) symbol embossed near or on the post. Secure the negative battery cable to the side so that it does not touch metal and cannot inadvertently slide into contact with the battery post.
  • Locate the alternator and the serpentine belt tensioner on the front of the engine. The alternator on the GMC Envoy is located on the passenger side. Relieve the tension on the belt tensioner with a ratchet and a 13mm socket. Turn the tensioner counterclockwise and remove the belt from the alternator pulley only.
  • Remove the 13mm nut on the backside of the alternator. This nut is holding the wire connector to the rear of the alternator. Then pull the wire off the stud and lay it out of the way. Then pull the electrical plug out of the back of the alternator and lay it out of the way.
  • Remove the two main bolts holding the alternator to the alternator bracket. One bolt is through the top left-hand side of the alternator and the other bolt is through the bottom of the alternator in the center. Remove these bolts with a 13mm socket and ratchet. Turn the bolts counterclockwise to loosen and remove them from the alternator. Then slide the alternator out of the alternator bracket. Set the alternator aside.
  • Slide the new alternator into the bracket and slide the lower bolt in first. Then slide the top left-hand-side bolt in. Tighten the bolts down to the proper bolt torque settings. The proper torque settings for the alternator bolts on the GMC Envoy series is 32 foot-pounds as recommended by the Haynes Repair Manual. You can use a torque wrench and a socket to get the proper torque settings. Once the alternator bolts are tight, plug the wire connector back in to the lower plug socket on the rear of the alternator. Also reattach the wire connector to the center stud and screw the 13mm nut back down tight over the wire connector.
  • Relieve the tension on the belt tensioner and slide the serpentine belt back over the alternator pulley. Release the belt tensioner and let it pull the slack out of the belt and bring the belt back to the proper tension.
  • Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery post and tighten the cable bolt back down tight with the adjustable wrench.
  • Crank the Envoy and let the new alternator charge the battery. Make sure the serpentine belt is running evenly and securely inside the alternator pulley. Turn the engine off after 20 to 30 minutes and close the hood.

Passenger door on driver's side won't latch

Inspect and lubricate latch. If it has a broken spring inside, latch may have to be replaced. This is unlikely as the driver's door is the one that usually gets the most use. Check for something preventing door from shutting all the way, such as bad weather stripping, body damage, bad hinge or seat belt in the jamb-ha ha.

Constant high pitch noise coming from pulley after changing serpentine belt 2006 gmc envoy

The belt tensioner on right side of engine, if you are facing vehicle, just below the altenator, is probably the problem. Mine made the noise all the time, bought part at Autozone, 18.99, its fixed, no noise.
