immobilizer active reset on 2006 volkswagon passat
First of all you need to programm all ignition keys using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-Com) connected to the data link connector of the car.
You have an electronic immobilizer key recognition problem. Now your key chip is not recognized by the transponder antenna fitted on the ignition switch barrel.
This warning lamp indicates that the engine is locked by the immobilizer system, and the engine start sequence must be repeat again.
From year 1995 in Audi-VW (VAG) cars is used engine immobilizer. The VAG group immobilizer system consists of an immobilizer ECU which controls the recognition of keys and the Engine Management ECU system. Immobilizer is activated when the ignition key is removed and, together with the engine control unit, largely prevents unauthorized starting of the engine. The system uses a transmitter and receiver unit in the ignition key (transponder). Whenever an attempt is made to start the engine, it transmits a new code to the car's electronics. The immobilizing is only cancelled and car motor electronic receives permission to start engine if the key sends a right authorization code.

I have a yellow upside down light bulb with an exclamation point inside of it lit on my dashboard. What does this mean?
This is a warning message about a burned bulb of a car lamp. Check all car lightnings: tail lamps, headlamps, turn lights, stop lamps, reverse lamp, fog lamps, ... Replace bad bulb(s). That's all.

Hi, I've bee having problems with my A/C. Sometimes it blows really cold air specially when its running consistently for at least 15-18 minutes on the highway. However, when I am in the city, going stop light to stop light the A/C seems to blow warm air. I had the VW dealer replaced the compressor and the condenser once because the compressor stopped working completely. It was working for a few days and then the problem is present once again. I took it back to the VW dealership and they said nothing was wrong. I keep having the same issue where the A/C keeps blowing warm air if I am stopped or again if the car is in drive gear and going in the city. Has anyone had this issue with their Passat? If so, can you please share what the problem was?
Thanks for your help.

oil warning light on saying oil pressure pump STOP engine Oassat diesel 2.00litre First Reg Nov 2005 mileage 56,5000 approx. On standard servicing schedule not long life
STOP the engine immediately !!! There is an oil pump failure of 2.0 TDI engines !
Remove the oil pan and the oil pump & balancer shafts assembly.
Either the shaft driving the pump from the balance shaft rounds off or the balance shaft drive gears eat themselves.
The same issue ... low oil pressure warning light, noisy rattling engine, and the turbo has gone. Diagnosis: oil pump balancer shaft assembly ...
Many Passat show excess chain noise and wear anywhere from 50,000-100,000+ miles. Cars have broken the chains/tensioner as low as 65,000 miles. This is just a range of cars that have been reported, diagnosed, and repaired. The actual statistics on dealer repairs or failures is unknown and I've heard cars over 100,000 miles that, in my opinion as a non mechanic (most mechanics wouldn't recognize this sound and problem either), aren't noisy. From what has been reported, noticeable noise/chain-tensioner wear/greater risk of breaking is around 60,000-150,000 miles. Your case may vary. The most obvious symptom is a rattling loose noise from the oil pan. Unless you listen to a Passat TDI with a tight chain and one with a loose chain, it's hard to describe the difference other than rattling chain noise.
The reason the gear drive oil pump modification was started is because a few mechanics who specialize in TDI have seen many worn oil pump chains/sprockets/tensioners. There will always be a few defective parts that come off the assembly line and all mechanical components like chains wear out sooner or later, but in my opinion, the failure rate is abnormal considering the number of Passat TDI sold versus the number of reported oil pump failures. This does not necessarily mean that every or even most Passat TDI will have this problem, just that the reported failure rate is high enough to consider this part a design failure. Nobody, not even VW-Audi knows the average time between failure for these parts and the percentage of cars that will have this problem, but they changed this design and if you want to not have this specific failure, the only sure way is to swap to the geared module.

How do you turn off the immobilizer on a Volkswagon Passat and remove the wrong key that was used?
Just happened to me in a 2006 VW Passat 2.0T - Automatic. You simply need to depress the brake and then press the button on the shift lever 3 times. You will then hear the key being released and you can pull it out.

where is fuse for fuel pump on 06 passat 2.0 tdi
Hello Anon...under your hood you will find a relay box and perhaps a fuse box. Check under the lid of the relay box for the location of the fuel pump relay or consult your owners manual for more details.

Air bag light came on for no reason. Can this be reset or does it have to go to dealership?
There is never a reason to go to a dealer for anything
A dealer is just a large repair shop, nothing special there
Read the questions on this site alone
The people here are here because a dealer can't fix their own products
You have a malfunction indicator lamp on SRS System Air Bag Light
You have problems that need to be diagnosed & resolved
Surely you have check lights & such on other vehicles once a year
or more as everyone does, those thing have been with us for 32 years
