I have a 318i 1999
Hi quintincoetz,
If your noise is a ratlling noise, more like a chain top end noise, then I would recommend first checking your oil level and condition. If the oil level is ok, you can remove the oil cap while the engine is running and look for oil lubrication on the valve train. It will probably splatter out a little. The most common cause of the noise is a failing timing chain tensioner. It allows the chain to have too much slack and slap against the guild rails. The tensioner is not too hard to replace and not very expensive either. If you have more than 100k miles, it is recommended to replace anyways. If your noise is more low pitched and more like a knock, I would recommend having a technician look at further.
Bmw rear door window replacement- How do I slide
The easiest way is to remove the weatherstripping around the window first, than slide the window in and bolt the glass to the window regulator and then reinstall the weatherstripping. The weathestripping is held in by a channel in the window frame so all you need to do is make sure it is reinstalled in the groove of the channel.
I have a 1996 BMW
yes it could be done , but you will not find a shop ( in there right mind ) that would do this . if the car was in a accident you and the shop would be held at fault if someone was injured. search in some of the used parts like car-parts.com then the car can be repaired at a lower cost. hope this helps.. I hate lawyers,,, LOL
After diagnostics on my 2003 bmw 318
Hi there,
You are correct...
Your vehicle's ECU relies on data received from the Camshaft sensor, to determine correct engine timing etc etc. It's also important to note that often camshaft sensor errors are closely related to crankshaft sensor problems also.
Recommend you disconnect the the Camshaft Sensor plug and do a test accross the terminals. If the measurements are not to factory specification, replace the sensor then clear the code. If the engine still cuts out, continue to query the diagnostics until problem is solved.

I have a bmw 318 sei 2 litre, a machanic as putb
The regulator built into the alternator should actually limit the current and voltage going to the battery. Try driving with you lights on and see if the light goes out. Then, with the lights off, put a volt meter across the battery and check what voltage is going to the battery. If it is over 14,5v the alternator is overcharging and I think you should take it back for their attention.
Why do i get occasional strong oil burning smell
Given the age of your vehicle, you probably have a small. slow oil leak from a valve cover. A small amount of the leaking oil makes it way down to the exhaust manifold and is burned and produces a little smoke. you don't smell this when you are driving because the wind blows the smoke away. When you are stopped, idle, the oder has a change to build up in the engine compartment and you smell it inside the vehicle.
The fix may be as easy as re-tightening the valve cover bolts, or replacing the valve cover gasket.
This solution is not the only reason that could cause your problem, just my best guess.
