no the problem is most likley a hole in the housing behind the water pump impeller allowing water to get to the sump

I'm surprised anything is working on an '88 galant. Check your fuses. If all fuses look good, then you have a bad power wire to your dashboard. Electrical insulation cracking and broken / loose plastic wire connectors (plugs) are a common but difficult to find problem apwhen cars get over 15 or 20 years.

sounds like its breaking down, check your ignition system, test your leads, check your plugs, check your ignition coils etc etc etc.

maybe they gave you the wrong one it maybe a different year . it can happen . check the door jam for a sticker it will tell what year it is. some time it depends what month car was made

Holley.com has parts fiche pics of all the parts for each carb, provide them a list number and they will email you specific info on your carb.

Take a look in a Haynes/Chiltons manual. At the back they have wire diagrams. Be sure to get your year model book.

MEP sencer is throwing a warning code. Find the sevice plug in you need to cross diog and ground to kick the codes for the computer. once the codes are kicked watch the light for blincks. and count the flashes. sample !!! !!!! !!! 343 ok?

The only switch that I know of in that area is the ignition switch.

The oil level may be too high.
Is the filler cap tight?
blow-by in the cylinder piston rign area. A wet test of engine compression will detect this.
A bad had gasket. Engine will be over heating as water is being used up during combustion.
Bad head gasket. Could explain white smoke in exhaust.

If the engine is overheating I would be suspecting a problem in the head area.

remove wheel and spray wheel hub/axle bearing with PB blaster.

The starter selnoid is located on the starter,it looks like a piggy back thing about 3-4 inches long and about 11/2 inch round with wires on it

have you reset the ecu? disconnect the battery for 5 minutes. make sure you have any radio codes if your radio has a security code lock.

Also could be the idle control stepper. Mitsu gives it some name like ICU but it's a small mottor attached to the throttle that opens and closes valves to let a little more air in and up the rpm.if it's sticky try cleaning the throttle and the valves.
