Most cars today use vacuum to operate the blend doors in the heater box. It is possible that there is a leak or crack in the vacuum lines leading to your heater control and when at idle, the vacuum level is not enough to keep the door engaged. Hi! Adjustment of the mirror on the driver's side when on reverse is definitely unusual. You will have to have the wirings checked for the reverse is triggering the side mirror. Regarding the block heater, yes it is possible to put one but be sure that an expert will do this for this is a sensitive matter. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
