If the shop can't find it, you need to check the wires. Make sure you check if the engine is getting fuel. Check the engine for spark. If those check out, test the igntion system. Cam sensor and the crank sensor. Check all fuses. If everything checks, check voltage to the wires.

What is the timing settings for the 21GJ

2 degrees before TDC is the best setting. Slightly more advanced (1 degree or TDC) will work if your gas is really good quality.

How many chain links from camshaft sprocket mark

Click on the following free Link. It has the Timing Belt/Mark Diagrams you will need for your 1989 Mitsubishi Sigma.
You can count the number of notches on the Belt giving you the number of chain links between the Front and/or Rear Camshaft Marks to the Crankshaft Sprocket.

Let me know if this helped....

How to remove a mitsubishi 1995 2.0 v6 fto starter

remove the wires, large wire and small wire and on gpx models there is a third wire i believe.

undo the three bolts holding it on and pull it clear.

personally i disconnect the battery before doing it, but others seem not to, no idea why though!

not much more to it tbh.

Pajero 1989,too much smoke durong first start

Is it white, black or blue smoke?
If it's the org. engine it will has over 200,000 miles on it.

It's normal to has the valve stem seal/oil seal on the head to leak oil into the cyclinder.

The smoke you see is the motor oil drop from the seals. It land on the top of the cyclinders and it create black smoke at start up.

The inexpensive fix is to start using high mileage oil with seal conditioner.

This will help soften the rubber seals and help reduce internal oil leak.

The correct fix is to wait until it's time for a head gasket replacement and let the professional to service the head.

Complete head service is the only method to stop this internal oil drip problem.
I will monitor the oil and coolant level.
White smoke AFTER warm up is the first sign of blown headgasket.
