the car has the capablilites to give data and codes. You gunna need a professional if you dont have access to a scanner and multimeter. Otherwise were just guessing.
I hate telling people that its out of their hands but sometimes its best to let the pro diag it and then you can repair it if you capable

I'm not familiar with this model, but have you checked that the fuel tank breather is clear?

Check your mfi relay.

Ignition module, bad coil, ignition switch, timing belt, distributor cap and or rotor, distributor not grounded

Its located behind the Washer bottle and Battery you must remove Battery Tray and Washer tank . hope this helps

can you keep the engine running if you use the throttle?
does having the AC on help or hurt. check for loose or split vacuum lines comming off the throttle body.

Mitsubishi electric had a problem with ecm's going out on those years they used fish oil in the capacitors with heat and cold temps change in time will leak and cause shortage in pcm board , have it tested by someone who knows electronics , ecm behind passenger kick panel

check engine codes could be crank sensor or cam sensor will stop it from firing

Dear friend. its very difficult to find the engine number. It is placed near from the exhaust connection with motor. I have tried to find a picture for you, but I was not get. I suggest you to ask in a Mitsubishi store. For sure the guys from there will help you. Good luck.

Dear friend. This issues appears when we have a fuel pump problem. I had the same issue. When the fuel pump pressure is low, the eletronic injection control send a sign for EPC control to blink the engine ligth. With rpm hight you increase the pressure automtic due to hight rotation motor applied on the fuel pump. To solve it, change the fuel pump, check if you have any hose blocked with dirt and so on. Afterthat verify the eletronic injectors nozzles and the timing belt position. Hope to help you. Regards. Erik Weide

I would google vehicle exhaust gases & do some studying Given it is a 1992-- 22 year old vehicle & don't know how old the motor is ! 159 is HC & a lot of unburnt fuel NO may be an egr issue along with overheating Best study the gases & what is required to address them You could go with the spark plugs,wires,synthetic oil, new air filter, check out the egr system,pcv system & vacuum leaks,thermostat, oxygen sensor,clean maf sensor I'm NOT saying throw parts at it,I'm saying check it out & do some testing, to find some problems You have to take out a lot of fuel & bring down your misfire counts, engine temp etc I would guess after your best efforts ,you need to replace the exhaust converter,I would, unless it is only 5 years old or newer
