Here in the states you can have AutoZone get you the trouble codes for the problem for free. I do not know if that is the case in Australia. If not then you need a small scanner to get the codes . they are not too pricey here. I hope they are not like that there either.

Mechanical problem,take your care to Autozone and have them scan it,they do it for free and only takes a few minutes,then they will tell you what is wrong.

I would be checking the engine mounts as the shudder is when the engine is bouncing around under load it it has a cable operated clutch, the problem could be that as the engine is allowed to move , it is affecting the operation of the pressure plate it may be true that the distributor may have a problem but in this case , not electrical distributor problems are limited ,to starting, missing, irregular timing but not what you describe

I don't all the details, but let me tell you what we do here at work. Is your fluid full? First thing to try is taking a safety pin, opening it, and sticking the pointed end into the nozzles where the fluid comes out at the windshield. then try the sprayer. They do become clogged over time. If this does not work, disconnect the rubber hose at the windshield, now try the sprayer again.If this works, run some wire through the nozzles to get the clog out and reconnect the hose. If this didn't work, go to the fluid reservoir, and disconnect the hose, try the sprayer(this will let you know if the problem is the tubing or the sprayer pump) if it works, then you have a problem in the hosing, and it needs to be replaced. If the pump still did not work, check wiring with a multi-meter with the switch on. If you not getting power, check your fuse or relay. also check the wiring. If your getting power, but pump still not working, then its time to replace the pump. This whole process takes about 10 minutes to do. hope this helps

use a seatbelt male connector off a wrecked car is the easiest way but dont know why you would want to disable the seat belt light as it is a safety warning device

the play in the side gears of a differential has little to do with driving smoothly. If there is a problem in the differential then there will be a loud howl or a grumble on drive or overdrive. If it doesn't drive smoothly then run the fault codes to check for TCM and other electronic problems. Check/change the oil and have the bands and clutch packs adjusted . These are the sort of items that will not allow it to drive smoothly.

i would take to a repair shop for this sort of thing or get yourself a good workshop manual
