1994 Mitsubishi Montero - Page 5 Questions & Answers
Hi,
On My Pajero NK
well the transmission computer is seeing a fault and is flashing the light to warn you there is a problem.
now the best thing to do is take it into the shop and have it but on a diagnostic computer and that will tell you what is bad.
let me know if you have any more question i will be glad to help.!
Need troque valve for main bearing and piston rod motor 6G72 3000
The info I have at had shows 60ft pounds for the Main Bearing Cap Bolts & 34ft Pounds for the Connecting Rod Bearing Cap nuts. For Bearing cap the sequence is as follows: When looking at underside of engine (bearing cap or Mono-block) and front of engine (harmonic balancer) to your left.
8 - 4 - 1 - 5
7 - 3 - 2 - 6
I hope this may have helped,
Tom
Why does the A/T red light flash on and off?
Hi
Do you have any other lights come on? I have the same sort of problem witht the A/T lignt coming but had two other lights flash up on the dash. I found out that it was due to the alternator was loose. check the belts to see if they are loose :). May help :)
I have a 1994 montero 3.5 It runs good when warm it shuts down
The lights problem sound like a ground problem. Invest in a 15 dollar Hayes manual from Advance and in the back section it will have schematics for the wire diagrams. Look for ground circuit's for the dash. IT will be a black wire that goes to a pile of hash marks that get smaller as they go up in the picture.
The rattling underneath sounds like a cat converter. When the exhaust is cold crawl underneath and hit the big bulge in the exhaust pipes with the back of your fist. See if you don't hear the same type of rattle. It is cause by the catalyst agent breaking loose in the housing. It should be replaced or it could stop up the engine causing damage to the valves.
Everything turns on and the car will turn over,
ir its getting spark and you think its getting fuel the only other things to look for is for fuel injector pulse, that is that the fuel injectors are actually pulsing the fuel into the cylinders. and compression, a compression check will verify the mechanics of the engine are running properly look for a reeding of about 125-150 with the first hit on the gage being over 50psi.
Got a mitsubishi pajero 2.8tdi auto put new head
bring number one cylinder up to top dead center on the compression stroke meaning make shure both valves are closed and seated usually you can feel the spark plug hole with your finger it'll blow your finger out with the compression or use a copression gadge . any way after that make shure your timing marks are still lined up you may be 180% off
Fifth gear throwing out when its put in
common problem with manual transmissions that have over drive gears, instead of dropping back to lower gear for overtaking, just putting foot to floor over loads the overdrive gear, prematurely wearing it to the point where the pressure angle changes between the gear in question and its meshing counterpart, causing it to throw/jump out of gear. dont use 5th gear, if you do, be gentle, it will eventually fail, get a new transmission!
The latch/lock on back door of Mitsubishi Montero SR doesn't work
Open the rear tailgate from the inside. Now open the door to the toolkit that is usually mounted on the tailgate/rear door. Using a large Phillips screw driver[usually a #3 tip], take the tool kit off the door panel by unscrewing/removing the screws holding it to the door itself. Once you have removed the tool kit, use a knife to carefully cut a "U" shaped access flap in the clear plastic sheet that should have been behind your tool kit. This sheet is called a water shedder or water curtain, it keeps water off the back of any door panel trim to prolong its life. You want to cut that U shaped hole in the sheet where the door sheet metal already has a hole from the factory. This will allow you to peek up inside your door and see how much of the rear door handle broke on you.
You should be able to easily see the guts of the rear latch and the release handle from this vantage point. Try to move the handle on the outside of the door. If any linkage or plastic 'arms' broken during your winter, you'll probably see this as well. Hopefully new parts are available, otherwise, you'll need to access a used Montero in a salvage yard to get good working parts as a repair. While you're in the door, lube ALL latch, cable, handle parts with a light oil to help prevent this from happen[the oil or a light grease will help displace any future water or ice from sticking to any latch parts]
You can easily tape the U shaped cover you made of the plastic sheeting back up into place with some decent tape, like Duct tape or packing tape. Masking Tape will work, but falls apart in a car with age. Clear plastic Packing tape works well and is transparent to boot. Good Luck with the door.
