1996 Mitsubishi Montero - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
How to remove the starter
You will have to go under the suv to access the two bolts for the starter. You will have to remove the intercooler first then the positeve battery lead. On top of the starter there is another positive lead to the solinoid you will have to do this to then go under the driver side and you will be able to access the starter. You will need a universal extension to do the job easier. Hope this helps
1996 Montero Heater Blower not working
I assume your heater setting is electric control, if so either your defrost and floor heat switch failed or wire problem.
For the air not hot, check the heat control valve on the top of the hose it should be in front of the firewall. I don't know your car is using mechanic valve or electric control valve. Anyway check there first.
Good luck.
How do I calibrate the throttle position sensor
they are calibrated from the factory but if u have not disconnected the batter do that and leave disconnected for 30 mins then reconnect and computer will retrain itself to your driving patterns
Fuel relay
have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold as your problem may have been the regulator in the manifold.
Low Idle and O2 sensor replacement on Montero
The O2 sensor is mounted to the exhaust; you'll need to get under the truck (jack-stand please) to locate. If it sits where a 89-92 sits it will be in the exhaust under the passenger side. Follow the wiring, on most it carries over the transmission to a wiring block under the driver's sie of the truck (again this is all under the truck) As for the low idle I do not believe there is anything to be change. If the idle is low it is due to other conditions... injectors, sensor, low compression, timing or such.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom
Engine over heating
Is the cooling fan working ? Are you sure the cooling system is full of fluid and has no air pockets ? Has the thermostat been replaced ?
Locked radio on a 1996 Mitsubishi montero
need
You just need to call the Mitsubishi dealer. He will give you the code. If the radio has been removed before, someone may have written the code on the radio housing. You'll have to remove the radio, and the information the dealer needs in on the radio housing. Ir if you purchased used, someone may already have written the code in the owners' manual.
No problem, the dealer's used to helping out with these codes, no fee involved.
My catalytic converter is getting cherry red hot
Possibly nothing. That's entirely normal under many circumstances and is exactly how a catalytic converter ensures that no unburnt hydrocarbons escape. If it's happening even at idle then it suggests that the fuel mixture is far too rich and that can be caused by as simple a matter as a dirty air filter.
I recenly repair a valve problem and engine runs
Hi!!
Make sure the valve locks (keepers) did not come off and the spring retainer is in place. If any of this happened, the loose valve will cause the engine to seize.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.
