1999 Mitsubishi Galant - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
99 mitsubishi galant , I changed the negative
not the starter motor ,who said that ? no its purely coincidental that changing the battery terminal caused this problem .Now you havent stated as to type of engine diesel or petrol ? if a petrol then double your battery instalation as if what you say is correct ? then you may have either dislodged a vacumn line or touched one which has split owing to age so have a good look .Backyard mechanic like the description .Well iam a aged dinasaur old truck mechanic .WITH A BIG HAMMER
I have a 99 mitsubishi galant es, that the temp.
Hi
I would start with a new sensor instead of second hand it is to important to make shore you don't blow the motor by cooking it.
If that does not work I would spend the money on a relay these are both cheap for piece of mind.

Replace wiper switch - how to remove steering
This is an old question, but I found it when looking for the same answer, so I'll answer with what I found out on my 99 Galant. There are 3 Phillips head screws connecting the bottom half of the cover to the top; one on each side of the steering wheel tilt lever and one just above the ignition switch. You'll need a fairly large screwdriver.to keep from buggering the heads. I found it easier to let the wheel all the way up to take them out. Once they are out, put the screws in your cupholder and use a thin, flat scraper or something similar and pry the two halves of the cover apart. The plastic is soft so don't mess it up too much. The top should work free now and be removed, and the bottom will easily flex down to get at the turn signal and windshield wiper stalks. Once you're finished, snap the two halves back together and put the three screws back.
Good luck!
Need to know why my car turns off
Not quit enough information here. If the car starts fine and keeps turning over then you do not have a electrical problem you have a fuel problem. Check the fuel pump and fuel relay out.
Spark Plugs for 1.8L 4G93 GDI Engine
the correct transmission fluid is ATF+4, any other trans fluid will spoil the transmission.
i use platinum spark plugs in my engine, works great.

You should never reset the speedometer unless you have rebuild the engine completely just so you know when to service your engine ,if you already went out and replaced it ,you should then go on and reset the cpu with a OBDII scanner system or by disconnecting the ground from the battery or 2 hours .
Mitsubishi Galant losing power
firstly, is this a Gdi engine? if the engine revs ok when on park and neutral, but loses power when on a gear while driving, most likely your GDi pump is malfunctioning. i experienced this problem twice already and the pump was the problem on both occasions. the car works fine and malfunctions sometimes until the pump stops working and the car can hardly drive and then it stops starting altogether. the pump is fairly easy to replace.
Where is the transmission sensor located?
The transmission sensor or speed sensor is located in most vehicle located on the transmission case. These speed sensors are driven by a gear located on the output shaft. The speed sensor's driven gear can be either machined or fastened by a clip. The driven gear is made by plastic to make it softer than the drive gear. It's located on the end of the vehicle speed sensor.
Car shut off while starting to drive away from a stop light?
If you can get it to an Autoparts store, ask them to read codes.
It sounds like an ignition timing problem, which codes should indicate. There are other sensors that may contribute for example an air mass meter but should show up in the bad code reading.
I personally had a problem with an air mass meter. Engine ran terrible. Foot on the gas eventually got me home.
