Brake pedal sinking at stop
- I assume you have checked your brake fluid. If not then check it.
- Did you pull every tire to make sure there were no leaks from the caliper? Sometimes they will leak and you won't notice it as most people stop driving when the brakes gets real squish so the way to tell for sure is to pull every wheel and look well.
- There was a recall on the Hydraulic Brake Booster Accumulator for the 2002 Montero. Reports of the brakes going "squishy" with the first press or two, a delayed action if you will. Sometimes the brakes just fail period. What happened is the manufacturer screwed this part up, period. Over time a leak will develop and leak the pressurized nitrogen gas from inside the accumulator. Mitsubishi should replace this if it has never been addressed. The fix is for them to install a new improved actuator.
- And if the dealer should go giving you a hard time "Owners who take their vehicle to an authorized dealer and do not relieve the free remedy within a reasonable time should [PER MITSUBISHI] "contact Mitsubishi @ 1-787-251-8715 and also contact The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Auto Safety Hotline @ 1-888-DASH-DOT (1-888-327-4236)"
- hope this helps you. This one is on Mitsubishi. They had tons of brake problems/complaints/recalls.
- If you have any questions or comments please feel free to ask.
- Thank you for using FixYa.

2000pajero diesel 2.8 turbo...diesel drip
Hello and welcome to FixYa!
First, the fuel filter looks like that it needs replacement. Second, do check the hose of the fuel filter too for it can be worn out that's why it's dripping diesel. Regarding the white smoke, Try disconnecting the positive battery connector, let it sit for 5mins. then reconnect it again. This will reset the system and can get it back to it's normal operation.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
My husband and I are
SOUND LIKE FUEL PUMP OR STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER.TURN ON THE IGNITION SWITCH LISTEN FOR FUEL PUMP NOISE.IF YOU DONT HEAR FUEL PUMP RUNNING IN FUEL TANK. REPLACE FUEL PUMP FUSE AND RELAY.IF BOTH OKAY.FUEL PUMP MORE LIKELY THE PROBLEM
The engine can not start
if the smoke was white then you have a problem with oil chambers... it could make your vehicule smoke all the time and can damage running parts in the inside of engine...
Can anyone help me please.. I just bought a 2002
I guess if you googled the car's make. model, and year with "speaker size" you could get some links.
also if you search for car speakers on the eBay.com or crutchfield.com websites both will ask you what kind of car you have and then tell you what size speakers go in the holes provided by the manufacturer. both of these methods will require however that you do something yourself, instead of asking someone else to do it for you. if you can't do that, there are many shops in every large urban area where guys put stereos in, and they know all that stuff.
BELT DIAGRAM 2002 MITS MONTERO XLS
Many manufacturers place the belt diagram under the hood. I've seen it on the strut housing and on the underside of the hood. The owner's manual may also have the diagram.
I replaced battery 2 days ago, today first day
More than likely your alternator is bad and not keeping the battery charged up, plus you may have an electrical draw somewhere in the vehicle draining the battery also. I would check out the alternator first. Good luck.
Service engine light is on, engine throttles low,
This can be many things. You need to have the ECU scanned with an OBD2 scan tool. You can get this done for free at most auto parts stores. The code will tell you what part is being effected and where to start looking for the problem.
First i've got to replace my shocks/struts and are
have you checked the distributer cap and the lead to number 5? as far as your suspension goes it seems just from a quick look at the diagram it looks like you will need a set of coil spring compressors to remove the insert of the front strut but you may be able to buy a complete unit.
I have a 2002 mitsubishi montero i need to change
I believe that the panel you speak of leads to the top of the fuel tank, which will have another panel held on to the tank with a bunch of screws. Remove and pull out the pump assembly. Before replacing the pump, check for power to the pump with a test light while someone is cranking the engine. Fuel pump relay problems are not uncommon on these so you may want to replace that as well or first because the pumps are quite expensive. When you are checking for power at the pump, make sure the opening to the tank is covered well with rags. You don't want any sparks near gas vapor
When do you replace the spark plugs and do you
Recommended spark plug replacement is at 60,000 miles. It is also recommended that the plug wires be replace at the same time. The only tools you will need will be a rachet, an extension, and the proper size spark plug socket. When replacing the spark plugs, remove one at a time, never remove all wires at the same time. When putting new plugs in, be sure to keep them straight when tightening. Tighten just until snug.
I got a NM pajero, recently a vibration started
more then likely could be an off balanced tire or a tierod end do a complete inspection of all your joints and look for bad spots in tires... even new tires can have bad knots in the bands
