1998 Buick LeSabre Questions & Answers
P1665 and 1667 on my 98 LeSabre replace the purge valve solenoid still getting the codes
You need 3 thing to get an engine to start. Fuel, air and spark. remove any one and you get a No Start.
No start even with starter fluid suggests there is no spark to ignite the fluid. Try going back to basics. Check the silly, obvious stuff first. Yes, I've been caught out by these,
Is the battery fully charged? is the air filter clean? Is there fuel in the tank? Have you checked for spark at the actual spark plugs?
When you crank the engine what exactly does it do? This will give clues as to the cause. If it just turns as it cranks suggests no spark, Trying to start but not running suggests fuel supply.
- Check you have spark all the way from the spark plug to the coil pack and power to the coil pack itself.
- Is there fuel getting to the cylinders?
- Is the air intake system clear and not blocked.

Av not blowing through vents
Vacuum leak from hoses or the vacuum canister leaking.
A leaking Power brake booster can cause you to loose enough vacuum to cause a problem also.

Unplug the blower motor connector then jumper 12vdc to the spade sticking out of the motor it should run if not replace it. 1998 Buick LeSabre, the remote receiver appear to
1. Insert key in ignition and leave in the OFF position
2. Locate the Data Link Port. It is located under dash drivers side. Be sure you know which pins are 8 and 4. (Note port is wider at top) Your OBDII port will not
have numbers.
3. Make sure there are metal contact pins in terminals 8 and 4. Connect 8 to 4 with a
suitable jumper wire (leave the jumper wire connected throughout the programming
procedure). Make sure you know which terminals are 8 and 4. The vehicle will respond
by locking and unlocking the doors to signify entering of programming mode.
4. Close doors.
5. Turn ignition to the ON position (as far as you can go without cranking the engine).
Doors will lock.
6. Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons together on the first transmitter to
beprogrammed. After about 15 seconds, the vehicle will respond by locking and
unlocking the doors. Release the buttons on the transmitter.7. Within one minute, repeat the previous step on the remaining transmitters to be
programmed.
8. Remove jumper wire applied to the OBDII Port.

1998 buick lesabre all control (radio, a/c) is off
Hard to say - using the data port to program a remote is unusual, and depending on what device or procedure you used, you may have screwed up the datalinks. You should start by using a code reader to see what trouble codes exist.

1998 buick lesabre 3.8. Replaced starter. jumped
voltage is a bit low. have you tried rotating the engine by hand with a socket on the crank., just to see if the engine is free to move. if the starter engages but not turn, it could be the voltage as they can be regulated this would stop it from flattening the battery via the solenoid, its usually around the 11 volts mark on some types. as low volts will damage the battery. or the battery amperage is not good.

Engine blew white smoke. I replaced the head
Hey Baptized,
You need to replace ALL the gaskets that seal coolant from ANYTHING... You may have a cracked head, cracked intake manifold,, or at worse a cracked block - between the coolant passages and the combustion chamber area...If you have a aluminum intake and cast iron heads.. this is a potential leak creator when the engine gets hot and cold quickly...make sure ALL the gasket surfaces are CLEAN.. and use:

DO NOT use silicone sealant - period!
