My keys are stuck in the ignition

When I turn the car off the key won't come out of the ignition. The car is in park and i tried everything to get it out. I tried turning the wheel, putting it in nutrual and then turning it off and nothing worked. I took it to Midas and one of the mechanics were able to get it out. But everytime I turn my car off i have to wiggle and mess with the shifter knob to get the key to come out. Sometimes it takes me up to 5 minutes to get it out. I don't know if i have to replace the tumbler or the entire ignition because the problem will worsen sooner or later.

I agree with the solution regarding the fuse. However, just wanted to make a slight correction regarding which fuse within my instructions for resolution:

- On the driver's side door near the hinges locate the fuse box (its black).
- Take the fuse box top off of it
- On the fuse box top, there is a legend that identifies each fuse. Correleate the one that says "Radio/Clock" (not Clock/Radio).
- pull that one out with a needle nose pliers or preferably a fuse remover tool. If not available, drive to nearest automotive/gas station or ask a neighbor for those tools.
- pull out "Radio/Clock" fuse (it is the second fuse from the top left column in the yellow background fuse area)
- Once fuse is removed, start the car then turn car off to take key out as normal. DONE! :)

2005 Chevy Aveo LS Dashboard lights won't come on

Hi,

I just bought a 2005 Chevy Aveo LS and I noticed that at night the dashboard lights don't come on even after I have switched the headlights on. There are no lights even at the gear stick so I cannot see anything while I am driving at night in terms of which gear am i using..Whether I am in R, P, N or D.
I am not able to see the speed or anything else on the dashboard.
The lights for the clock and CD player still work properly.
Any help will be really appreciated.

Thanks,
Rupen

The problems stated above seem to be caused by SP101 (specifically contact #1) being burned and contact 3 (dash lights), and contacts 2, 4, & 5 not receiving power. SP101 is located inside the fuse box under the hood. It is a white, 20 pin connector that splices wires internally. Either replace the connector and the purple/white wire, or solder/splice the wires together and solder or crimp. I don't know if the dealer sells the splice, I'm looking into that because I need it. I don't know why this splice malfunctions and the left side (identical) doesn't. Unfortunately, this is common in the Aveo and the dealer mechanics seem to be totally clueless!

2005 Chevy Aveo - engine light and hold lights flash

Yesterday I had my Chevy Aveo in again to find out why the lights flash. It starts when the weather gets cool 40 degrees. They reprogrammed the computer yesterday and he said it was working. This morning I warmed up the car and drove 2 blocks before it started again. When I started the car to come home they started flashing again. It didn't happen all summer. Evidently the dealership needs some help with this problem. I sure do.

I also had the same problem, But the problem lies in the switch the actual hold switch on my aveo there is a side entry way you can pop off the one on the left will give you access to the switch. what could of happen is theres is condensation in inside the switch. then when it gets cold it freezes causing the switch to malfunction. This could happen either by spilling something on the switch or using a cleaning solvent like armorall, YOU MUST BE CAREFULL WITH ANYTHING LIQUID NEAR THE HOLD SWITCH. Also the car going from warm when you drive then cold when you park it at night. My car was in warranty and remind you I came up with is the dealership had no idea what was wrong. they reseted the computer it worked for a week then was happening again. I have knoweldge in switches/wiring so i decided to check pot the switch and open it up and sure enough there was condensation took it to dealer told them to try a new switch works perfect and going on 5 months with out problems. Replacing the switch can solve pretty much every problem that is stated here i think. Also take a look at the wiring and connections for older aveos

Keith, Searched the net on this, a little confusion on this one and not a lot out there. The pan/ diff. cover has to be removed or at least loosened some to change the fluid. Check the attached link, instruction and guide, Good luck

Pull out your spark plugs. Change them if dirty. There might be a problem with the fuel trim, thats causing spark plug to foul up prematurely. A stucked open EGR valve can also cause a multiple mispfire code(P0300) but then it would be accompanied by an EGR code(P402) which means excessive flow detected. Anyways if was indeed a fouled up spark plug change them as well as the air filter.

My chevy aveo won't go into gear. The gear shift

My chevy aveo won't go into gear. The gear shift says you are in Drive but the car acts as if it is in park

Most likely the shifter cable broke or became disconnected. Have someone shift the car (engine off, parking brake on) while someone else watches the transmisssion linkage to see if it moves. If it does move there is an internal transmission problem if it doesn't it is just a problem with the cable.

Answer

Once the tires are correctly inflated as per the required PSI, the light should go away, if not, follow these possible solutions. We are sure one of thse will work for you:
1. Drive at a steady speed of 50 mph for 10 minutes or higher, then switch off the engine, this may get the light to stop
2. Turn the key to the ON position and then press and hold the TPMS reset button located under the steering wheel. Check the car's manual to see where it's located. Hold the button until the TPMS light blinks thrice. Crank up the engine, and the sensor shall refresh within 20 minutes
3. Inflate all four tires to their recommended pressure plus three PSI more. Then deflate them entirely and then reinflate them to the recommended PSI
4. Remove the positive wire of the battery, switch on the car, and then press and hold the horn for three seconds to discharge any power left in the vehicle. Then reconnect the battery, and the problem should be solved.

Sounds like your blower motor may have either ceased, or gotten an obstruction. Sometimes an animal will crawl into your heating unit and make a nest or other things get in there and bind up the hamster wheel (fan). Start by checking for power at the fan using a test light with a wire probe end. If you have power at the fan with the switch on but it's not spinning, first check for an obstruction, if no obstruction, check to make sure the ground is good from the motor (make your own ground with the test light by probing the ground) if the motor spins up, fix the ground wire, if not, time for a new blower motor unfortunately.
