I would replace your thermostat.

FOR THE 2.2L AND 2.5L ENGINES TO REMOVE WATER PUMP THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR AND BRACKET NEED REMOVING AND ALTERNATOR AND BRACKET HAS TO BE REMOVED BEFORE WATER PUMP CAN BE REMOVED.

-Coil (or coil pack)
-Coil wire
-Cap / Rotor (or the screw holding the rotor down)
-Ignition Switch
-Main or Ignition Relay
-Timing Belt Broken
-Distributor Gear sheared off
-Cam Sensor
-Crank Sensor
-Shorted or Open wiring fault
-Theft Deterrent System
-PCM / Computer

You need to find the proper test procedures for your vehicle (buy a shop manual) and work your way down the list until you find the broken part.

Hi, sounds like an ignition problem. Recommend you check for spark first. Then take a look at your spark plugs--may need a tune up.

may can take grill out to get latch or go under it get some thing to pull latch their no other way . maybe can pull cable but where did it break at inside car or at latch if can get to cable w/visegrips pull it

It sure sounds like a stuck-open thermostat to me. The coolant is flowing through the radiator when it is not supposed to. The car does not have any airflow through the radiator when it is sitting still, and when you take off the air blows through the radiator, thus causing the engine to cool down. The thermostat controls the flow of coolant through the radiator to keep the engine at operating temperature.

I would look for spark, you may have an ignition problem. it would be a sensor that goes into your distributor, the plug should be a round one with i believe 4 wires.

Yes it is under the car, usually mounted in a bracket. There are 2 hoses going to it with clamps holding the hoses on the filter. Not too tough to change. Make sure you relieve the fuel pressure, by removing the fuel pump fuse while the engine is running.

You don't need to, just cycle key, on (not start) off,on,off,on and leave in on position and count flashes of check engine light.
Will be a 2 digit number with pause in between. For example: 3 flashes, pause, 3 more, is code 33. 1 flash, pause, 2 flashes, is code 12. When you get 5 flashes, pause, 5 more, that's 55 which means end of message.

It could be a defective camshaft or crankshaft sensor. Rent a scanner and read out any defect codes from the computer. The code(s) should point to what part is defective. Just replacing parts on a hunch can get very expensive. Hope this helps!

There is a loose wire or plug somewhere in your Engine Compartment. Check the Battery and Starter wires and make sure they are tight and are not broken or corroded.

check the high pressure switch or the a/c pressure switch.

What you can do to diagnose this issue is - take an old spray bottle (some kind of house cleaning solution), empty and clean it out really well (so nothing flammable is in it) and fill it with water. Then, pop the hood to your car, start the engine, and squirt different parts of your engine until you squirt an engine part that causes your car to shut off... then you know that's the problem part!
I had the same issue with my husband's car. We determined that it was the distributor cap, which we purchased at Auto Zone and replaced on our own for like $30.
