If the problem is due to warped brake discs, you will typically feel a mild pulsing in the peddle when braking firmly. Also, when you are experiencing this shudder, taking your foot off the brake (when safe to do so) should cause it to stop. If that is not the case, I would consider again the transmission. I am on my second Caravan, so I speak from experience. The Caravan transmission should have the fluid changed every 30,000 miles to keep it in top performance, especially if you are carrying any heavy loads or pulling a trailer. When you are slowing to a stop, the transmission must downshift through each of the gears. If it stays in the higher gears at too slow a speed, you will feel a shudder. Sometimes this can be corrected by changing the transmission fluid. Be sure to use the proper Chrysler fluid for your transmission. Typically it is the highest (overdrive) gear that causes the shudder. You can determine this by moving the gear selector from "D" to "3" when you are experiencing the shudder. Other possibilities are alignment, worn stabilizer bar bushings, worn ball joints, and out-of-round tires. Most of these also involve some accompanying noises though. Good Luck.

the code is telling you where the problem is. Try replacing the HO2S sensors as the cpu is having trouble keeping the air /fuel mixture within limits. Check the cat converter for cracks or blockages . Have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to check for pump/filter and pressure regulator problems. Check the ambient air temp sensor and coolant temp sensor as they also affect the air/fuel mixture.

Selector or clutch

You need to have an analyzer connected to show any codes. It sounds like and ignition system problem; however, if something is causing the fuel mixture to be too rich, it could be flooded. Your owner's manual should have procedures for difficult starting problems. If none of those work, you will need service.

My 1995 dodge caravan is having the same the problem it turns over but wont start...I changed the fuels pump still wont start...and other ideas of what it could be?

run fault codes to find out the reason the engine light came on. If you have fixed it then use the fault code reader to reset the cpu.

my manual says, 1 close doors, 2 place key in ignition & turn key between off and on position for a total of 4 times ending in the off position (do not start engine), 3 press driver side door lock button to lock doors, 4 you will hear chime when programming is completed

Replace the the dash bulb and,or,have your airbag module checked.Hope this helps.

i have a 1998 caravan my harmonic balancer fell off my qquestion is is there 2 separate keys that hold on the timing gear and the balancer pulley on, i have been to the dodge dealer and they printed me out pics but i still don't know for sure if the timing gear has it's own key or there is just 1 long key that holds both the timing gear and the balancer ......PLEASE HELP

If the blower runs on high but not the lower speeds, check the resistor. It should be on the firewall near the HVAC box. If the blower does not run at all, check the motor for power and ground, and the blower relay is behind the fuse box.

As long as the light is on, the air bag will not deploy in a crash.The light is on because a problem has been detected, and the pcm will have set a trouble code for it. So you should have a scan done of the pcm to retrieve the code, and go from there. Autozone or other national chains do scans for free.
