1997 Dodge Intrepid - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My 1997 dodge intrepid is
Code 700 and 740 r transmission and torque converter malfunctioning. Which most likely is caused by not enough fluid do to the leak. Code 401 is a egr (exhaust gas recirculation) valve problem. Most likely it's dirty. It depends on location of leak as to wether or not you can do it yourself. If leak is from pan you can get a filter and gasket kit. Remove all bolts surround pan and remove be careful as the residual fluid needs to be captured. Remove old filter replace with new filter. Use caution and scraping old gasket off pan. Check pan rim for any distortion or dings. Put new gasket on pan replace pan on vehicle using appropriate torque and sequences for tightening of bolts

Intrepid won't shut off
Use Diagnostic Unit, you will not find your fault any other way, (ie) fitting parts that you might think will work , is costly.

Sunroof won't close all the way.
Sounds like the sun roof circuit breaker is tripping before fully closing. The C/B is in the fuse panel And looks like a fuse but is metal instead of plastic. The windows use the same style breakers. Change all of them, they are old. Also lubricate the tracks with lithium grease (spray can). Window tracks too.

97 intrepid check engine light...
something else
you have to have all of the original system in place for the ECM program to operate properly
removing for convenience is not the way to go as it will throw up codes and upset the economy of the vehicle

We have a 1997 Dodge
The Intrepid doesn't have a vacuum line. It uses a electric motor called a "blend door actuator". It's located on the underside of the heater box near the center of the car.

1997 dodge intrepid is stuttering in reverse
That fluid and filter is due to be changed. The stuttering is evidence off low charge pump pressure at the reverse clutch pack . Filter service should be done every 80,000 miles.
