Do spark plugs continue to work after you start driving

Hi Ahuerta, Just about all the vehicles you see on the road work on the principal of what is called a four stroke cycle. When the piston is pulled down during the first stroke, the crankshaft rotates and is joined to the camshaft by a timing belt, chain or gears. As the shafts rotate the camshaft presses down and opens the intake valve(s) and a mixture of fuel and air is drawn into the space on top of the piston called the combustion chamber. The valve closes as the engine continues to rotate and the piston begins to travel upwards, squeezing the mixture until it reaches almost the top of the tube called the cylinder. The combustion chamber is closed and sealed and the spark plug is sparked which causes the fuel mixture to explode, forcing the piston downwards until it reaches the bottom of its travel and begins coming up again. This time the cam shaft opens the exhaust valve, letting out the rubbish left over from when the explosion happened. So as you can now understand the spark plugs work all the time the engine does. Take your vehicle for a diagnostic scan and let your mechanic find out what the problems are. Regards John

Wont start

sounds like your not getting power to the starter. check the connections on the battery and the starter to see if any thing is loose. if not you could try taking off the starter, and taking it to a part store and have them test it.

Can the pcm cause the starter not to turn in my 2000 dodge neon?

Is it getting fuel? Check the pressure regulator or the fuel pump. Even if you have the plug wires on wrong it should do something.

Replace a headgasket

it's very detail orientated proses so if you don't have patience and moderate automotive experience i wouldn't even try. with that said if you have the repair manual for the car it's not that hard, you will have to remove the plug wires and coil pack, valve cover and serpentine belt as well as several small hoses....use duct or masking tape to label each side of the wires and hoses you take off ,this will make reassembly much easier...... then loosen the intake and exhaust from the head they don't need to be taken out just separated from the head now you drain the coolant. now remove the spark plugs, raise the right side of the car ,remove right front wheel, put your floor jack with a small piece of 2x4 on top of it under the oil pan and slightly raise the engine about an inch now remove the upper and lower engine strut and remove the large bolt that go's through the motor mount on the passenger side, you will now be able to raise and lower the engine separately from the car witch will be necessary in removing all the bolts for the timing cover, now pull the harmonic balancer off and the timing cover. now set the motor to top dead center then remove the timing belt....we're almost there :) now you should be ready to loosen the head bolts*****in the order and proses described in the repair manual*****this is very important to keep from further damaging the head. now if you need a new head gasket you probably overheated the engine in witch case the head is warped and needs to be machined by a machine shop...if you didn't overheat the car check for straightness according to the manual.while the head is at the shop clean the block with brake part cleaner or something else that leaves no residue and use a razor blade to scrape off the old gasket.....it needs to be clean like it's new......now don't open the new gasket until your ready to put the head back on,set head in place and re-tighten fallowing the directions exactly...........since you're in there already you should replace the timing belt and water-pump too now if you labeled everything before you took it off you should have a pretty easy time putting it back together

2000 dodge neon bucks when i put my foot on the gas pedal, wants to stall, sometimes does

You need a different repair shopYou were sold injector cleaning, the tune-up was asham, that is spark plugs only, ignition coil obviouslywasn't the issue or they solved a different problemthan what you have nowThe idea is to go on a road test where your drive going out& tell the story about the cars issues, switch seats & the mechanicdrives backIf that doesn't happen you need a different shopThen they only diagnose what your there forIf they can solve that, then you both build a lastingrelationshipYou don't go to the mall & some chain store place orthey do as happened, sold you something, not addressthe drivablitiy issues you went for,you got played

My 2000 dodge neon bucks when i put my foot on gas, when idoling, the motor seems to idol irratically, what can it be?

sounds to me like a bad throttle position sensor, these are generally located next to the throttle body & spares are readily available from most breakers yards, just a couple of screws & an electrical harness to undo then reverse the procedure on your vehicle at home.
