How to reset anti theft system on Neon 2001

Take the negative cable off, and leave it off overnight. This may help the issue. Had all kinds of trouble codes from a drain on the battery. Left the cable off and it reset the brain and runs fine now. Try it.

2002 Dodge Neon automatic transmission sometimes doesn't shift out of first gear

You will first need the TCM (computer) scanned for fault codes. If none show up then then try changing the transmission fluid and filter inside the transmission, if that doesn't work it is time to have an expert diagnose the issue. The TCM scan will need a special scanner, not the one that parts stores use to scam the engine computer (PCM)

OBD codes P0700, P0732, P0733,

P0700....Transmission Control System (MIL Request)

P0732....Gear 2 Incorrect Ratio

P0733....Gear 3 Incorrect Ratio

P0841....Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch 'A' Circuit Range/Performance

P0871....Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch "C" Circuit Range/Performance

well it would appear so as the fluid pressure sensor switch is controling the gear change as as you have two faulty switches its affecting two gears .now you are also showing a code for not connecting the information to the computer ,so i would check the connection plug on the gearbox in case some of the connections are corroded or burnt inside the connection plug before you go any further ,if they all appear to be ok and have a continuety circuit with a meter then i would be inclined to ask a specialist autogearbox garage for a opinion .Autoboxs are not something we have that many of in europe because they are called granny wagons here and are not popular because when they go wrong it means throwing the car away

It wont start

Three things to check. Spark, fuel and timing. Take plug. Out and check good spark, needs to be earth to engine block or car. Is the fuel pump working. Timing could be out usually 180 degrees. if you worked on car recently to do timing chain/belt. There sensor all over cars the most likely is the crankshaft sensor. Lug in computer and get error messages. Good luck

Bar the engine over to make sure the engine spins over. If the engine is fine then move to the fuse-box. A blown fuse or defective starter relay could cause your "no start". Also check the battery cables that couple to the fuse-box. Then move on to the battery, cable connections, and the starter. Make sure that the battery passes a load test. You need either a load tester or a multimeter to confirm. A bad battery or a loose or corroded connection can allow the lights to turn on but would ark out is the engine was cranked. Let me know how you do with this information and let me know what else you need, good luck.

I also have a 2002 neon and a few mo.s ago it shut down. A mechanic told me it might be the fuel pump. He suggested taking off the breather cover and take out air filter and spray starting fluid toward the intake. Sure enuf it started. The next day I towed the car to the mechanic and brought a new pump and later was good to go.
