I just moved you to EIGTHY EIGHTH. no symptoms told at all just (now working) transmissions have like 100 failure modes or more, I;m not posted that, here. and cause WALL OF TEXT HORRORS. the shifter lever is stuck in some why PRNDL or all gears above are dead car will not move. or reverse is dead. or D or L is dead 1 or both, or none. or drive will not upshift. or transmission has false neutrals or flare.(up) 1: check ATF levels by the book> and gross leaks? 2:check all fuses in car cab/bay if ok fuses 3:scan the PCm with OBD2 scan tool , see P07xx codes , bingo. this box I thinks is 4T60E (the new name GM now uses) first tell what reverse does. and the rest . my answers are USA only, or canada if you told. it. a good run24 years. the time to buy a scan tool is before car will not move. and now the tool is free of cost, just a fraction of labor tow charge saved pays for the tool, (buy ,rent or barrow one) the rules of ROI

You have lost engine vacuum to the AC vacuum motors, this is either a pinched vacuum line from the engine vacuum storage canister or the canister is damaged or the control switch in the dash is leaking vacuum.

Remove the spare tire and then carpet and check to see if you have one. Also check under your rear passenger seat.

You have fuses and relays . The fuses are or should br labled inside each cover if still there as well as on the fuse block itself, If not I can look under the hood of mine and tell you. The relays from left to right thats passenger to driver and numbered including the empty spaces as mine hase three on the right and two on the left with three emty slots in between. Now Olds seems to have kept this araingement for some time also my '98 88 has ABS as part of TCS but no relays there and diferent climate controls over the years it is posible you have more or less than are presnt on mine the complete list is as follows #1 - AC compressor control for the compressors clutch #2 - Horn relay #3 - AC blower fan motor on, at low speed on the '98 #4 - AC blower motor off or high speed depending on year, not present on my "98 #5 - ABS pump relay ,not present on my '98 #6 - ABS Main relay also labled as pump relay for some years, not present on '98 #7 - High speed cooling or radiator fan #8 - Low speed cooling or radiator fan

you have a bad connectin on ac wiring check wiring

Find another in a junkyard and hope it has a diagram, or while the car is off.. pick a start point and pull one and see if it needs replaced. If it doesn't, put it back and move on to the next. If it does then replace with the right size.. usually color matched but also number matched.

it is mounted on the same panel as the radiator maybe even below the rad hope this helps

Possible "crank position sensor", but also inspect the harmonic balancer coming apart, the back of it has the on/off window plate that the ckp reads for ecm functions.

Check coolant level first. Low coolant could cause the issue.

explain problem ..if it is overheating change it

It's in the gas tank. If you've never pulled a tank off to replace a pump, I advise you to buy a Haynes or Chilton repair manual for your Olds to follow the procedure-not immensely difficult, but pretty involved. All lines to the tank removed, electrical plugs disconnected, filler hose removed, then lower and drop the tank-2 straps usually hold it up-(helps to have as little gas as possible in the tank, or it will be quite heavy-in that case, use a floor jack with some wood padding to avoid denting the tank), remove tank away from car. To get to the pump, remove the locking ring (on top of tank) with a brass punch or wooden dowel (so no sparks, see?) or be very careful if you use a steel punch or big screwdriver-NOT RECOMMENDED-but I have done it without sparks, so just be careful. pull the locking ring off and pull out the pump and fuel sender unit. Take off old pump, and replace with new-hopefully it is a OEM-original equipment manufacture-Aftermarket brand pumps just do not perform as well as original (olds) equipment. If the pump has failed, it is good practice to also replace the fuel pump relay-a failing pump can sometimes damage or shorten the life of the fuel pump relay, or so I've heard. Common tools and ratchets are needed for the job-possibly also a release tool for the fuel line fittings-if you have those types of fittings, I think you do, called quick connect fittings.There's lots of other procedures to get the tank off-like lowering tank, then remove lines and electricals from top of tank, probably the exhaust will have to be lowered, you can siphon gas out the filler neck after lowering the tank a bit. You need to know how to relieve fuel pressure before disconnecting lines, but if little or no gas is in the lines, there won't be pressure. You just need a repair manual to do it step by step-...and label all lines removed, so you know where they go back on the tank.If I haven't discouraged you yet, buy the manual, and get set for a dirty Saturday afternoon. Essentials like beer and pot are a given. lol.

crank shaft sensor..it happened on my 2000 blazer..you might check it out.....it's weird...

I had this car ,change crankshaft sensor.

Bad plugs would cause a miss and the engine would run rough.Your check engine light would also be on and you would have codes for the missfires.
