A/c would blow air, but not cold for some time.
you might check the fuse box & relays. and the ac shouldn't cost quite that much if you buy the part yourself. if you tell me what year, model, and engine i can look up part # and cost for you. the labor shouldn't cost more than $300 if you bring your own compressor.

Hi my a 160 starts then stops after about 10
Is it an aftermarket alarm/starting system? If so it may be burnt out. Without the right bosch relays to hold the locks down for 3 seconds the sytem will burn out trying to lock and unlock due to the air pump sytem. They might have also messed with the stock alarm system if you have it on your model which would compound the problem. If the car starts at all I would look at replacing the coil and coil wires as they are some of the biggest contributors to poorly running MB's. Then I would check the fuel pressure, maybe replace the fuel filter and check valve as they can keep fuel pressure low. After that might be a bad ignition switch which I doubt but anything is possible. If you also have an aftermarket radio it is tied into the stock alarm and that may not help your issues either. Hope I have given you a good place to start.

I have a 1993 mercedes 190e 2.6 and after getting
Unless the oil pan is badly damaged then I would not replace it. Tell your technician that you would like the gasket replaced and a new oil plug installed. See if this doesn't change the price to something a bit more reasonable. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Engine Stall
change the fuel filter it maybe clogged, check for any vacuum leaks even at the intake manifolds
I would recommend trying STP fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank and make sure you have at least a half a tank of gas when adding and then finish filling it up and take the car out on the highway and drive it to run it through the fuel system and see if this helps and if it does then change the fuel filter

1992 190e mercedes won't start?
it sounds like your fuel distributer is clogged. Replace your fuel filter. first you can try to bleed your system. take 12mm. wrech and loosen up you lines(one at a time) and crank your engine over(with a battery charger)and force your fuel bubbles out of the lines. while the engine is cranking and the line is loose knock on the line with the wrench and you will probably see a whole buch of rust poor out of the loose fitting. do thius repeatedly untill engine fires off-then with engine running loosen up your lines and repeat if any lines loosen up and there is no idle change that means that cylender is not firing and your injecter is not working. These mechanical style injecter's take alot of pressure to open the poppet valve to spray fuel.hope I have been helpful

1988 BMW 735I Defroster blows hot air... I getting a sunburn
The Heater Control Valve has failed. It defaults to full defrost mode when it fails and blows hot air even when the A/C runs. Replacement part is $105 ...google Autohaus AZ for online parts ordering. BTW...HCV is located in the engine compartment right in front of the driver position in the corner by the firewall and inner fender...you'll see small coolant hose running to it.

Transmission fluid leaking
Bars leak is ok, but if it is a seal, you'll need to drop the tranny pan and replace it. I don't know about Mercedes, but usually you have to remove the exaust pipes to take the pan off.

I HAVE A MERCEDEZ 190 AND THE KEYS ARE NOT TURNING
it is better to buy a new ignition barrel.it takes a special socket to get the screws out, once the screws are out they do not need to be replaced.buy new barrel, disconnect negative battery cable, disconnect wires from barrel assembly, remove barrel from colum. first take vin# to dealership parts department to get correct barrel assembly, the keys with new assembly will fit doors and trunk
