Hi Your S class has two batteries. The smaller one is located in the engine bay, and the bigger one in the boot (trunk). No need to access any of them, simply open the door with key, insert key to start engine, you will notice that not all ignition lights will come on, but the engine WILL start, and the batteries will be recharged after a short while.

did you look in the trunk?

I have 1997 mercedes benz sl500 after changing my battery, my roll bars will not go down. how do I get my roll bar back down?

There is a good set of instructions at www.benzworld.org Do a search for outside mirror replacement and i think you'll find all you need to get this accomplished.

you will need to replace the ASR actuator assembly is this happens again, very expensive fix and all to common a problem

you should have a fabric panel behind the front seats.if you can not gain access to the motor from the trunk.

hmm... as i remember u have to STEP on the small pedal near the left wall and CLUTCH pedal?

These are cable driven there is a cable that goes into the rear differential its probably the sender unit thats gone on the diff side the 190e are the same type i think you can buy these and replace easy enough its just 1 hex nut that keeps it in place hope this helps ivan

Until you have the system scanned for fault codes all this is a guessing game.
